That's what I learned of sim tyre drifting. I'm not very good at that, but with some practice I would master it but I won't do that because I like slick tyre. But I enjoy very much that LanEvo's Imprezza and I saved the game with that settings. 4WD with sims is easy and fun. :)

This is my feeling after try some of your settings.
Please LanEvo: Try my Pagani Zonda C12s (or any of my cars) and you'll see if slick tyre drifting is easyer than with sims. Ok?? ;)

i tried some of your settings back when i was first starting drifting. the first car i ever set up for drift was cudamans rx-7..then i had a few of yours. i couldn't drive cudaman's at all, but i could drift yours instantly, but i knew cudaman was far more skilled. so i stopped using your settings and made myself learn how to drift with cudaman's, now i can drift any drive train..any tire...as smooth as each other. while people who use slick tire i know can't drift as well as i can with sims. when i play GT3..i want realism, and i wan't to be like D1...they have regulations and rules (car must be registered with license plate, must meet certain sound level, must use street tires etc) plus i have drifted in real life and know what it's supposed to feel like. sim tires is my best option for realism..i can use small amount of hp like cars in real life and still pull off drifts like the D1 guys. if you ask the best drifters here what kind of tire they use..the answer will be the same..."sim"

you don't see 900hp Imprezza or 1000hp Zonda in real life...and that makes it very fake. slick tires are only used on race cars and not even allowed in D1...so your setups are very unapealing to me, sorry.

Yes, if you want realism---> sim tyres.
But I find more challenging drift with slicks than with sims. You can't make mistakes to have good drifts. ;)
And it's not so easy.

me too but i think sheron setting is good for beginner
& after u master it than u swith to sim that what i do when i was the beginner ...but now no prob all tire can drift exspecially SIM & SLICK ..:D

yeah i can drift any tire as well... sim to normal to t2 to t8... just depends what you are looking for... sims and slicks should not be compared in the difficulty of control because they should be used for different purposes... slicks will almost never look as impressive as sims... and on slicks you cant do anything as smooth as on sims...

The way I see it is that Sim tires=crappy RL tires...so IRL any car with over 300hp would never have tires with as little grip as sim tires...unless the owner was a moron. If you look at most of the tires the pros use, they're all really grippy. The only time you really see crappy tires being used is if the car has less than 300hp (usually less than 200hp).
From what I remember most of the top D1 cars have around 300-400hp (correct me if I'm wrong), so I generally don't use anything less than Super Slicks. (unless I'm using an AE86 or something).
I just find that when I use sims..the car just seems to want to drift on its own..like it doesn't require any Feint or braking or anything..just power-over and you're sideways. I've said before that I like drifting a car that I could grip with if I wanted to. Using sims..you slide even when you don't really want to.

yeh thats true but as i remember i drifters who drive chaser
it ho is 700 he can drift preety well . information at driftshowoff.com
but he is not a d1gp driver ...:D

most of the d1 guys i've seen are using yokohama advan neova. i use yokohama A520 on my own car and yes they are grippy..but once they start spinning just like any tire grip is compromised. they do offer a lot of control though :)

Oh!! Thanks for all the information guys.
I've been trying sim tyre drifting and...........mmmmmmm......... doesn't fit with my style, normal is close to sim and I like it very much. (Much more than sim) ;)

i dont think sim tires is realistic then super soft, with super soft, you got the speed and then style of speed drifting as the D1 have you know, thats all

I'm going to need a translator or something because I didn't understand any of that.

super soft are FAR to unrealistic. they offer more grip than most soft compound slicks in real life, let alone simulating a high-end street tire...lmao

yeah a translator would be handy..too bad most of the stuff is meaningless even if it were in proper english

Falken Azenis are very popular too especially among those who can't afford a set of Neovas.

Anyway, I think anyone who locks themself into one particular type of tire is limiting their abilities. Tires are like springrate, there is no "best tire" for drifting, it will be different with each car. I use sims on most of my cars that are under 500hp but as horsepower increases you need to be able to keep the car stable at higher speeds. Here's an idea: TRY THEM and decide for yourself.

Yeah I agree, the whole idea of Sim tires is as unrealistic as the slicks Medium slicks however, which would be considered Street slicks are found all over the place on cars. But as for Sim tires. I've never heard of a car with such bad tires that if you slightly turn the wheel the back end will drag itself out of alignment, that is very VERY fake.

One thing I forgot to add, is that of course if you slap on some other tires you will not like the car right away. You have to get used to it. Drive it for a while. Just because you can't instantly drift doesn't mean the settings are wrong. Speaking of settings, each different tire requires different settings, so don't forget to adjust your tuning if you switch tires. In general, you will want to stiffen it up as you get better and better tires.

I agree with LanEvo though that super softs are just too much, they are the only tire I won't use. The tire will break loose but won't stay loose. Softs are the stickiest tires I use, and only on the fastest FR's & MR's.

I wish they had something between simulation and sports tires, because those two are both pretty good. You can tell the sports tires have less roll, which I absolutely love, but they have too much traction. There needs to be a compromise: simulations with stiff sidewalls.
