i didnt get to try but 1 car today after i downloaded the update from 12-20-2011 and it was the dodge challenger with race mods and all mods.

the engine sound only comes through on the right side. i know it isnt my headphones messing up because my sound track plays in perfect stereo.

before this update the dodge sounded so mean in both left and right side. all thats changed is the update download.

anyone have similar problems?

Maybe the Challenger only has exhausts coming out of the right side, I'll have to check on that one though.

My Peugeot 908 LM Race car has lost it's wonderul diesel roar & now sounds like a kitchen utensil. 👎

"wonderful diesel roar"?
that car never had a roar.. 908 engine sounds like a vacuum cleaner even in real life! :D

Exactly the same problem. Did the Stars & Stripes seasonals yesterday with the shelby cobra. Engine sound from the rights speaker only, though other cars do sound through both speakers.

No idea why they did this. Might be more realistic considering exhaust placement etc. but playing with the bumpercam it just sounds ... wrong... Hope they'll fix this.

Addition: just for clarity, i play with a 2.1 speaker system.

Ironic how this seasonal is showing problems with the latest update. I'm having a problem with the engine sound in the Viper ACR. It sounds too quiet for a 600hp V10. I hear more tire noise than the engine since the update (even in chase cam) and it makes changing gears harder. And they still haven't fixed the ACR speedo glitch.

Same problem for me aswell, the Mazda 787B sounded fantastic before the update but now the sound looking forward is so poor I can't tell when to change gear (can really hear wind and tyre noise) but now its just a quiet hoover, if you look behind you it sounds really good, I have tried a number of cars and seems to me that rear engined cars sound as described above but front engined cars sound better now. Hoping this is sorted out soon!

The 908 never sounded any good. As described above it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. In my opinion the 787B and Ford GT40 is the best sounds in the game. Generally cars with rotor motors sound pretty nice in GT5, specially when u go all the way from the low revs.

Just played with a Corvette and the engine sound is only comeing from the right. I have a 7.1 system. Sounds like crap now. Another patch please to fix the patch that, oh forget it.... job security at PD. Never liked the wind sound (GT4) either. Wish they gave the option for controlling specific sound effects.

Just tried dlc 4wd r35 sound from front is good but I think PD borrowed 007's silencer because there is no exhaust note from the rear, remember the citreon gt electric concept car? yeh, well sounds just like that

@ Fuelairspark, I agree, never had any issues regarding the engine sounds or wind noise (know there not the best) but please fix it PD! @ Greisen agree 908 but was better before update at least I could hear it, 787B sounded the mutts n**s but now only if you are looking behind.

oh good - glad to know that I'm not the only one with the problem.

My viper was doing that same thing during the Stars and Stripes.

well this sounds like a problem that many have after reading a bit more. before the update it sounded through left and right speakers in all views. i usually use cockpit view. but the challenger maxed out with exhaust has dual exhaust so this couldnt be an exhaust placement issue, but definatley is a problem that needs to be fixed. it went from sounding like a big block V8 to a wimpy crappy V8 with mufflers. hopefully this will be fixed asap.

I noticed this yesterday too. I could have sworn that when I first started the race, it sounded fine in cockpit view (the engine was coming out of the center channel), but when I started trying out the other views and returned to cockpit, all of the engine noise (what little there was now) was only coming from the right channel.

New Stars and Stripes Seasonal Event
Dodge Viper ACR with full tune then tuned down to race requirements.
8 Lap Daytona Race
The car sounds like it's a high pitched alarm.

I have never driven a real race car but should it sound like this? Is it the transmission that I am hearing?

I've been checking some other cars, just driven the supra no upgrades just base model and sounded ok from all views.
@ Hal20xx First noticed it yesterday too (20th December) when I did a seasonal race in the 908 and thought it sounded a bit flat.
All the other updates so far have greatly improved to the game and shows that PD are listening

oh i must add just in case it matters, this was done in the practice session and in the nurburgring. both times the sound was messed up. i miss that massive V8 dual exhaust sound.

Like the way my drifting supra sounds now - still has a slight has a turbo sound but with more roar. It doesn't have that muffled farty turbo sound that it used to.

This is the only issue that has bugged me so far

Pretty much agree. Funny thing is, I wouldn't have even noticed it were it not for the Stars and Stripes seasonal! Kinda like PD told on themselves.

Just hope they realise that they have messed up the sound and sort it out, cause for me it has spoilled the experience in most cars, as mentioned the 787b sounded great, almost realistic, but now its un-drivable because you can't hear when to change gear :(

Posted this in the main "improved sound" thread, but I'll add here: My 787 is still plenty loud, but only on the right speaker, no sound on the left. Changes sides when you look behind. Same with R92CP. On the other hand, my Challenger TC(stock as it came except with LSD) sounds perfect. Everything else I've driven sounds fine, but I have another 658 cars or so to test...

Glad I read this thread! Racing the "All American" Seasonal today with a 2010 Camaro and exhaust sound was only coming from my right speaker! I have a 5.1 speaker setup. Whats up?
Pete

Yesterday, I was racing a Dutch guy and he kept complaining about the lack of sound and how he couldn't even hear his car but when mine drove by he could hear his loud and clear.

He was driving a fully modded M5 and I was driving a fully modded 135i.
He changed cars too but he had no luck.

He was having sound problems regarding his engine from the chase cam just like you. So I think it's not just you.
