MGS3 review in EGM

Well, I'm sure most of you subscribers have this already, but I thought it'd be a nice discussion.

Okay, I'm trying not to spoil the review for anyone, so I'll just give the scores and high and low points.

Score: 9, 9.5, 10
High: Gripping story, tight controls
Low: Camera Problems, some wonky dialogue.

Personally, I feel that they are being too nitpicky. When GTA does something new it "redefines the game," yet when MGS does it, the game sucks.

Crap, don't have my issue yet. Maybe today, then. :)

What did they have to say about GTA:SA? OPM gave that one top scores, saying it was the greatest game ever made. Sounds like they bit a little heavy into the hype on that one.

As for MGS3, remember that MGS2 left a bitter tasted in many people.. the whole Raiden thing and the have-to-play-it-five-times-to-figure-everything-out overly complex story. Which probably left them with an open mind about MGS3, not overlooking minor faults. Still, 9, 9.5, 10 is a damn good score for EGM to give a game. I've been reading EGM a long time, and they don't give out the nine lightly, and especially the ten.

I hate camera problems. Remember Tomb Raider games? It still won't make me abandon this game though.

GTA San Andreas and Halo 2 both got 10, 10, 10 and tied for Game of the Month award. Looks like Snake Eater won't be winning Game of the Year...

What does MGS3 do that redefines the game?

demon seed have you ever played a game like this that has a good camera? I havent. So to me thats nothing, as long as you can still play the game :). To me cameras are either bad or ok. GTA: SA has an OK camera.

I always thought the overhead style view in the MGS games were very good, along with the up against wall view. Made the game easy to navigate.

Only if MGS 3 is released this year.
