Microsoft confirm next Xbox, codenamed Project Helix, will play Xbox and PC games

How is it not true? How does the rumor that they are going to stop putting games on PC change all the games they've already released on PC? It is a rumor, Sony has not said anything officially about this.

I'm not going to list out all of them again as I have already done so once.

Just because GT7 is not multiplatform, or that this is a GT7 forum, does not change the fact that 90%+ of Sony's major first party exclusives are on PC. Don't tell me they aren't as I literally own most of them on Steam.
I really need to buy a 2k Xbox so I can play Sony's games that I already play, I'm completely sold now thanks

How is this true? You can literally put an Xbox 360 disc into an Xbox Series X and play backwards compatible games. You can put an original Xbox game into a Xbox Seires X and play the game that was enhanced for free. You cannot do this with any PS3 or PS2 game on PS5 at all. (PS5 Pro doesn't even have a built in drive for $750).

If it's a PC you would literally plug in any CD, DVD, or bluray drive into the Helix.

If anything, what they're are doing is the exact opposite of what you're saying.

Xbox Series X has the best support for past generational physical support than any other modern console.
Yes that is the situation now, because their "adorably all digital" plans leaked and caused a massive backlash, like when they tried to restrict the second hand game market on the Xbox one.

When it happens again and again it is quite clear the company wants to eliminate the physical market and lock everyone into digital purchases and cloud streaming, where there are greater profits. They will try once more.

That is absolutely not the point and you know that. No one is saying you should buy an entire console to play games you already own. The point is that you don't need a Playstation to buy or play these games. Also for people that don't own those games already have the option to just buy them on Steam rather than buy a Playstation. It's about options and availability.

Also some people would rather access to all their games aggregating on a single library and device rather than across multiple devices. Supporting all the storefronts while also aggregating all the store fronts into a single library is a nice thing about Xbox FSE.

As said before, Sony literally beat them to releasing a flagship console without a disc drive. I don't see anyone trying to say Sony is attempting to kill physical media. What you posted was an internal concept PowerPoint that was never meant to be released; it was leaked and confirmed by Xbox that it was never even considered for production.

Xbox Series X is the only console with support for four generations of physical media.

I think that disc drives being sold separate, like on PS5 Pro, will end up becoming a norm for both Xbox and Playstation because of the price of RAM, APU silicon, and SSDs. They are going to try to keep the base price as low as possible. For both the PS6 and Helix.

Could do with PC on current gen since there are so few current gen games yet, however many years later, maybe their AI will make us some?

Can't be bothered buying another Xbox after that, and current world affairs don't look too clever, whose AI model simulated that?

Would buying just a Game Pass sub on the cheap allow us to connect to a Helix Xbox and play PC games? How would it know what we want to play, or would we have to download them there and then, like happens with MS Fligh Sim, their own title not even fully loaded into their cloud consoles?

Will cloud ever even work for racing with a wheel given the latency?

Ok, I'll buy the cheap variant.

Why should it not work? The game and it's assets/resources are loaded into the "console" and its local memory and used from there.
The problem with syncing game data (position, trajectory etc.) is the same as with games stored entirely locally.

Are you sure about that ? Isnt cloud gaming using their gpu to run the game ? Thats what google is saying anyway so your point is not valid as it will give you more or less latency depending on where you are vs the server location.

Not completely sure I understand what you're asking. With Gamepass you can download the game to a PC or Xbox and play it without streaming. I would not recommend streaming racing games.

Yeah, I was thinking of what steam on pc can do (game files "hosted" on another system, but executed/run on the local host).
What you mention (what was used for stadia) would require a very fast (and stable) internet connection in terms of latency. For 60hz/fps you would need a connection that takes less than ~16ms (1s / 60hz) for sending the data, processing it in the cloud and then send the video back, for 120hz/fps it would be 8.3ms. In germany that wouldn't work for vast majority :D

Wonder how they will mess this up.

Always been a Playstation man myself but competition is good and Xbox stopped being that to Playstation a long time ago.

Microsoft makes 30% of any third-party sales in their store. If MS allows Steam on Helix, they instantly lose that revenue. On their own hardware. Why would anyone purchase a third-party game on X-Box if they can purchase it on Steam (frequently cheaper) and have it on any PC/Steam device they wish AND on their new Helix X-Box?

And if they don't allow Steam on Helix, suddenly we're back to having a regular X-Box. Albeit a powerful, yet expensive X-Box.
