Microsoft is Killing me (rant: Service Pack 2)

I recently "upgraded" to directX 9.2 and ever since my version of C&C:Generals ZH runs stuttery... before I installed it it was as smooth as a baby's arse!!

I downloaded it yesterday. The thing I want to know is why does MS assume I want to use its firewall and virus protection software. Its too bad they can't prompt you to leave the machine as is before it loads up its software. I turned all the new stuff off. I laughed when it said running two firewalls may cause conflicts. What were they thinking. Anyone with broadband should be running a firewall.:rolleyes:
Anyone know how to turn off the pop-up blocker? It won't open the extra smilies window. :grumpy: 👎
I already have a pop-up blocker configured in my browser. :mad:

They aimed it at the average person, who wouldn't even know about the firewall if it was turned off.
 
Alright so I think the Service Pack 2 really ****ed over my computer. iTunes never worked after I installed it, so I was wondering if there was any way to un-install The new pack.

If this has already been answered sorry I am just to lazy to read the thread. For serious.

I am going to install sp2 soon, but i'm worried that my 3d graphics programs will not like it :guilty: They are always real picky about graphics card drivers and sometimes even antivirus programs. My dad wants to install it on my computer soon because I'm on "his" network so he has "control" over what he wants to put on mine to keep it safe, but If any of my 3d programs dont work it will be off within 10 minutes :grumpy:

Alright so say I uninstall it, will that get rid of iTunes? Because I installed it after SP2. Also, what effects will it have on my computer? Be honest with it **** it up or not?

Also it is under "Windows XP hotfix SP2". Is that it?
 
It won't get rid of anything other than the service pack. I don't know the effects, since I haven't tried it.
 
I love sp2. The pop up blocker and firewall are great. I too had problems with it in the beginning, but after a while of serious clicking i got throught the mega laggalishess faze and this pack has helped me out a lot. I had my anti-virus(aVg) and my router firewall running the whole time.

Directx 9.2? Isnt the latest version 9.0c?

I've yet to upgrade yet to SP2.
