Midfield Drifting prob!!!

Well, I know I'm new to drifting but I think I've got my setup the way I want it. I've been drifting a bunch of courses all night and I've finnaly got the hang of things. Except for the very first two turns on the Midfield (normal) course. Here are some pics:

It feels like I'm not finding the right line going into the turn(don't judge that by the pic I took, thats to show what turn I'm talking about)
I've tried all the standard tires in all combinations. Honestly I find that sports mediums work fine after some getting used to. Every time I slam, slide or bump into the wall. I know there is a way to connect to two corners with a drift, I saw it in a vid I downladed last night. DL did it. "Freakin Sweet!!" Help if you can or just flame me for posting. Whatever.

P.S. Sorry bout the HUGE pics. Don't know how to make em small.

You're drifting AWD, hence it's ALL about line. Period. So if you can get the car to drift(and it looks like you can), then you need to find the good line. On that corner, you want to take a more traditional racing line. In-Out-In. Entry is very important.

Good luck.

Imageshack.us or Photobucket for your Picture problem?

photo bucket sorry.

I got out-in-out to work once. in-out-in seems to feel like it makes sence but just doesn't get me through the turns. As soon as I figure out how to put the replay on my cpu I'll try to post it.(feel free to direct me to a thread about posting vids) ;)

hah. out-in-out is the universal line. Thats not much help. for 4WD start from the inside of the corner flooring it, then when you slip because of g-force(or pull the e-brake) steer accordingly into the curve, countersteer towards the outside slowly, then turn into the curve again to avoid going off course, gradually pressing ebrake to lose a little speee to stay on the track. out-in-out works but to find the true ultimate line dont think about a standard. I start a drift at like 200km+ to drift a hairpin

Hmm...interesting. Giving him specific intructions when you don't know his setup or power that the car has.

If you've drifted at all, you'll quickly realize that the trick is to find the correct line. Unlike 2wd drifting, you need to have the line set out from the begining of the drift as it's very difficult to alter mid drift.

Also, from the pictures I could tell his drift is ending to early, a clear sign that his line needs to be altered slightly.

like everyone said, first work on the line
what i would do if i kept ending like that, would be put some more torque/power to the front wheels to get that extra length

I have bad skill so to link those two corner I will make my car drift at those spesific corner angle at full throttle no countersteer. Drifting will be easy, if you can get good entry the right line and speed, the next thing to do is just floor it :D. The hard part would be finding the correct amount of tuning that can make front and rear tire slide at needed ratio.

You will have a hard time linking corner if your front tire slide more than rear (understeer when sliding).

in this corner handbrake doesn't help. maybe with MR or FR, but not with AWD. the distance between these two corners is too long for that. too much speed and you'll end up out from the track, too little and your drift stalls. just perfect speed and you still manage to get traction before the start of the later corner.

Sorry it took me so long to get these up. This corner is pissing me off.

Opps. My tranny is set to auto setting 12.

Remember, this corner has been re-profiled from GT3, so if you try a line that worked in GT3, it WILL NOT work in GT4.

I noticed that. The tracks look almost like they're wider but driving them is more difficult than in GT3. Besides, I never tried my hand at drifting in GT3.........it's all about the GRIP MONSTER!!!!

Anyway, pm me when that vid goes up. I wanna see those two corners drifted.

Yeah, the run into turn one has been lengthend a litte bit, thus squaring off the first two corners, and making the esses after that more difficult to go through flat out.

Tried all day, no luck yet. The toe didn't seem to add much to the drift. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but when I drift it feels like there is almost no need to countersteer. Is this common inn 4WD? Maybey I should mess with the VCD more?

Absolutely correct. Normally you only have to countersteer a slight amount when you want to exit your drift in AWD otherwise keep the steering straight and just play with the gas/brake.
