On the practice race at Deep Forest for this I was challenging Soopa but then clipped the grass and spun into the pits!!

That strategy didn't pay off on a 5 lap race though.. :(

I assume you mean the concrete patch before the tunnel turns? I try and stay off of it with at least 2 tires. Funny thing, with penalties on, it still doesn't penalize you on that corner even if you completely leave the tarmac. The only way to get a penalty on that corner is to hit the grass first then travel over the concrete, If you just use the concrete, there are no penalties even though you are way off the track.

Yes, thats the one, it is odd that the game doesn't penalise this and its not the only place either, Monza is another example, very strange!!

From my experience with the MRC, all the drivers seem to be honorable and make every effort to drive a clean line. When they don't, it is usually because they made a mistake and it probably ended up costing them time. I saw a few examples at Sarthe but nobody ever gained an advantage so they likely just did it accidentally.

Couldn't agree with you more, I've been very happy with everyone's driving and attitudes, it's made it very enjoyable to be a part of. I just want to make sure everyone's on the same page is all.

If I can't get my car under control before the race I will prbably sit and watch this one, otherwise I'll just end up causing a pileup and that's the last thing I want to do.

I actually meant understeer lol, but yeah I'll go the opposite. Right now my times aren't bad from what I'm seeing. However I hate Understeer because I have to take the highline of the corner to save me from running out straight and hitting a wall. Problem is I hate using the high line and my style is more mid to inside line.

UK version says:

The online service of Gran Turismo 5 will undergo maintenance during the following hours:

(1)
Start: 08/23/2011 17:00 GMT
Finish: 08/23/2011 21:00 GMT

(2)
Start: 08/30/2011 03:00 GMT
Finish: 08/30/2011 04:00 GMT

(3)
Start: 09/08/2011 17:00 GMT
Finish: 09/08/2011 23:00 GMT

(4)
Start: 09/15/2011 17:00 GMT
Finish: 09/15/2011 23:00 GMT

During the maintenance, it will not be possible to connect to any of the online services.

*Please note that the exact times of the maintenance may slightly vary.

Note the dates are in the backwards american format, so its 8th of September not 9th of August, from what I can tell we won't be affected. I guess it depends if the online services are switched off at different times according to timezone!? Hope everyone will be able to join...

I know the format for the dates, so for europe maintenance is going to be tonight 8th of September and for american people tomorrow.... :nervous: !?!?!?

Wait you're still going to go through with the race though some can't make it due to events out of their control?

Well I was, but I'm not sure now, I would've continued as we only count 8/10 towards final points for just this kind of thing. Rescheduling could be a pain to get everyone on board on another day, otherwise we'll have to push the whole series back by a week, which would then put the last race of next season too close to christmas...!! What to do, what to do!?! You suck PD :irked:

Christmas?? According to the calender The Nurb 24h is 4 weeks away which is the last race of the season....So October?

he is saying THE NEXT SEASON :)

anyway for me you can push it forward for one week, no problem.. but I hope to play tomorrow :)

Yes, the way things are currently we can start next season following this one and it will end the week before christmas, we can then have a few weeks off before starting season 3 (which incidentally may be SuperGT including both GT500 & GT300 classes).

I'm just going through trying to identify who our american drivers are and see if anyone is affected by missing a race, a quick glance at the top it doesn't look like it will, garage has only missed one race so far, hurleyman/boshuter haven't missed any and Hamilton's only missed one. There are other drivers left who have already missed two or more but I can't remember which are from the states...

New York is on EST right..?

If so qualifying starts at 19:00 in New York, which is an hour after the outage is due to finish, so assuming the outage doesn't run over too much I think we're gonna be ok!?

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Midnight+Racing+Club:+Rd.6+Deep+Forest+Raceway&iso=20110910T00&p1=136

I guess so since New York are on the East Coast....I dont think it will affect anyone since it doesnt affect us UK users...Im assuming that the maintenance is at the same time everywhere in the world regardless of time zones....

It wont harm me since the time the race starts london time is 4:30pm for me here, which is an hour and a half after the maintnence. I wanna be a major player this week and not because people can't be there due to PD raining on parades of the people. Also I plan to be allascato for sure since he beat me last week with the only other SC430 in the field to finish, of course I want to beat everyone else, but being the best SC430 driver is a win for me.

The SC430 does seem to have a disadvantage compared to the other cars, so I would certainly consider being the fastest SC430 a win too, don't worry I have a plan to balance things out next season ;)

Its driver prefference.....In the WSGTC the Lexus has won a few races...

or maybe the drivers are that much better than the competition they can make it work ;)

we'll see what happens next season, I'm sure it will be harder for the defending champion with what I have planned, mwuhahaa

Please don't say you are thinking of using a penalty system for the winning drivers. 👎

BTW: how are you getting along with your NSX at this weeks track? Deep Forest is definitely not a good track for the Honda, best I've been able to manage is high 1:08's. :nervous:

No it won't be a penalty system like ballast or anything, I will reveal nearer the time and see how it goes, don't want to say too much yet in case people stop trying ;)

Its not looking good for me this week, I'm way off the pace with a 1:11.5 and only managed 2 laps where I didn't spin out in that first hours practise, if I can't get the car under control I'm gonna bail on this one for fear of causing too many accidents...

If you are going to be online tonight, I'll share my NSX setup. I think mid 1:08's are possible with it, this track and the NSX just don't go well together.

server under maintenance now... as expected for europe :ouch:
I have to tweak my setup... I cannot now

You are correct sir. September 8th and 15th 10am until 6pm EST according to GTPlanet. Shouldn't effect anything.

they're both Thursdays.

Thanks that would be much appreciated 👍

I'm PM'ing you the setup I'm using. It's as good as I can get without more time. The car handles pretty good, but you still need to be very smooth in the turns or it will quickly get away.

What happend tonight in my lounge Garagefather? I didn't have my mic on when you first entered, when I did put it on, I couldn't hear you and don't think you could hear me. After you left, I left also to see if you were in your lounge, but it didn't show you as online.

I could have used some tips for this track, it's definitely not one of my favorites. :)

Me, drive smooth... you're having a laugh!! hehe, thanks mate I really appreciate the help, the NSX really doesn't like this track and the track doesn't really like me either! I'll get online in an hour or two and give it a whirl, if I can just keep it pointing in the right direction more often than not I'll join in tonights race, regardless of how slow I may be ;)
