Request Reminder for this Series

This Series is aimed at the Beginner/Intermediate driver, I consider myself fairly average, but mostly it's for those of us who can't make it for a league much earlier than midnight. Anyone from any country can join as long as you can make it at Midnight UK time, if you're unsure of the time difference then check your city time for this weeks race. This is a relaxed close competitive series; all the rules and regulations are to ensure a close fun racing experience, we want clean fair drivers but as it is a competition we expect some bumping and accidental incidents, deliberate punting or other unsavoury behaviour will be penalised.

Bonus Points

Pole Position: 3
Fastest Lap: 2

Basic Rules
  • GTP Online Rules in effect unless otherwise stated in the Code of Conduct post below
  • No Intentional hitting/spinning out of opponents (if you accidentally take someone out wait and allow them to rejoin ahead of you before continuing racing)
  • No Corner Cutting (2 wheels must be in line with track at all times)
  • No swerve blocking while on the straight (one move rule)
  • No trash talking or degrading remarks to other Racers
  • You cannot pass by going off track
  • You must yield to traffic upon returning to the track
  • You must yield to lead lap traffic (blue flag)
  • Be patient, the guy ahead of you is there because he qualified faster than you or overtook you, show some respect and bide your time. Unless Vettell joins the league he will make a mistake or create an opening at some point.
  • If you’re involved in an incident, first save the replay that's located under the podium icon, view the replay to get better perspective on what happened. Send me a PM concerning the incident, specifying which lap/time the infraction occured on, I will take it from there. Even if it is me at fault, please do raise the issue I won't take it personally, just because I'm organising this doesn't mean I can get away with driving like a tw@

Qualifying
My lounge will be open about half an hour before we're due to kick off, at midnight the track will be reset and qualifying will begin, for most tracks this will last 15mins but for race 5 & 10 we'll allow 20mins due to the length of the tracks.
Race rules apply to qualifying as well, if you come off the track use your mirrors/map and be very careful re-joining so as not to ruin someone else's lap time
Use the mini map to give yourself a good distance behind the car ahead, drafting is not in effect during qualifying so being close to the driver ahead will only serve as a disadvantage
If you're happy with your time and want to stop qualifying, enter the pits and press start to pause the game, your car will then remain in the pits.
Please be careful not to press the start race button otherwise we'll have to qualify all over again

Race
As soon as qualifying time is up I will request everyone to enter the pits and hit pause, once everyone is in I will start the race, please remain in the pits as it seems to help the game sort the start grid out and get the game going without leaving someone behind.
Remember your tyres will be cold going in to the first corner, your goal on turn 1 should not be to get to the front, but rather to convert a double wide start field to a single file running order. Look ahead more than one car. Due to field compression, a compact field will run slower through the first few turns than a spread out one. Leave some extra space, but not too much. Drivers behind you won't be expecting sudden braking. In a crowded field, pinball is quite possible. A racer who runs into you may have been punted. Don't automatically assume malicious intent. I'll review the first corner closely and be issuing penalties to drivers at fault of being over aggressive in the first turn. A bit of bumping and rubbing is expected but a punt will not be tolerated, if you bump and cause an innocent driver to spin or go off at any point in the race, waiting for them to return ahead of you may just save you from receiving a penalty if it is your fault. If you wait for someone to continue ahead and they didn't lose places, then no penalty for a first offence (1pt if its a repeat offence), if they lose places and you waited 1pt penalty (2pts for repeat offences), if you don't wait 2pts penalty.
If you start the race but are disconnected due to lag you will receive points for last place, if you disconnect of your own accord you will receive a DNF and no points, it is easy to tell from the replay when someone is disconnected due to a bad connection. If you are suffering from lag you may be asked to leave the race, it makes it very difficult to race when someone in front of you is jumping all over the track, inevitably you end up hitting them and ruining both parties race. It's difficult to tell if you are lagging yourself and it will be up to other drivers to point out if it is getting bad and the replay will show it quite clearly, it can happen to anyone at any point and I view it similar to an engine blowing during a real race, only 8/10 races are counted in your final standings so if you score last place it's not so bad.

* To avoid connection issues during a race please try clearing your cache in the game or GT5 Port Forwarding on your router (thanks to allascato for providing the link)

Do you mean signing up? I don't quite get where you're going.

Ngocvht if you want to join the series send a pm to Soopa he will give you all the information you need.

Spa is a track you really need a lot of track time to develop the confidence and learn the proper lines for the ever frustrating and long sector 2. I'm usually losing about a second in sector 2 , its just a bit difficult for me. If I can ever get sector 2 perfectly I will run what Immortal is running 2 09's

Yes Soopa I do remember the days of Kingys series , some real good races most of them me finishing in 2nd behind you . I think you dominated one season with 13 wins out of 16.

If you're running 2 09's, I guess I'll be doing 2 11's with no practice on race day.

No no , I am running 2 11 's consistently with a best of 2 10 5xx

Immortal has told me he has run a best of 2 09 9xx

2 11's seem to be the times to go for here , anything faster than 2 11 is podium pace

Nah. He'd be driving while playing BF3 with the other hand and painting a portrait with his legs while blowing a harmonica with his mouth while thinking about his next move in chess. :dopey:

Lol

Immortal does 1 09's in his sleep , let's hope he never switches to manual transmission then we have no chance in hell.

I think he's like the real life version of Bunta from Initial D,seriously.

I have never witnessed a talent like him with the automatic transmission

What, he uses auto transmission!?!

While waiting for the BF3 expansion to be released I thought I'd get some practise in, was putting down high 2:11's, so thought I'd go back to the drawing board with setup for Spa. It was when looking at all the settings I realised that I've been running rear downforce of 55, its on all 3 setting sheets!! Can't believe I've been running like that and I'm not sure for how many races, no wonder I've been so off the pace, put it up to 65 and my PP went from 602 to 606 and immediately did a mid 1:10. Did a few more tweaks to rear suspension and diff now theres more down on the back end and got a low 1:10, I think that should do me nicely.

Had some time left to test some GT-R's for next season, the Calsonic makes 613PP whereas the WOODONE (which I wanted to run) only makes 605, I really don't understand how they can be so different, it must be something to do with the handling. I put the same tune on both which was default except dropping the ride height to -15/-15 and slightly increasing spring rate, set transmission max to 186, ran a mid 1:10 in the Calsonic and a high 1:11 in the WOODONE. The WOODONE was way more tail happy than the Calsonic and you couldn't get away with one wheel on the grass while keeping throttle pinned like you can in the Calsonic. It's really strange for 2 cars that seem identical to behave so differently, wierd!!

Well Immortal is a karter,no gearboxes there so I guess thats what he's comfortable with.
How's the NSX setup going?Car feel good?

feels much better now I have full rear downforce, what a dumbass

me too I can keep a pace of 2.11 low at Spa, I have to tweak more the setup to reach a lower 2.10 but I think is possible because yesterday SkengD did a 2.10.5xx and at the end of sector 2 I was about his time but then I screwed it up in the last chicane :O

Yes it is. Same with the NSXs.
The epson is the hardest to turn while having the upper hand at straight-line acceleration.
The Takata is the best handling NSX. The ARTA comes in second.
The Raybrig is the slowest in a straight-line and is the second to worst handling SGT NSX, with it being tail-happy.

I found that in some thread in GTP. I'll look around for a quote.

Found it.

(sorted by manufacturer)

------------------------------------Nissan-------------------------------------
1)-Xanavi Nismo GT-R--1100----702----1.54---1:30:794-------306---------9
2)-Calsonic GT-R--------1100----696----1.57---1:30:903-------307---------9

6)-Woodone GT-R-------1100----694----1.57---1:31:493-------306---------7

ALL Nissan JGTCs are overall solid cars (as expected)

Fastest: Calsonic, Xanavi GT-R
Slowest: Xanavi Z
Best Handling: Calsonic, Xanavi GT-R, Xanavi Z
Worst Handling: Woodone (comparatively)
Personal Favourite: YellowHat, Xanavi GT-R, Xanavi Z
Special Mention: the Xanavi Z will probably beat all of the above in a track like cote de azur. Very agile.

---------------------------------------Honda------------------------------------
1)--Epson NSX-------------1150---702----1.61---1:30:914-------312---------7
2)--Takata NSX------------1100---621----1.74---1:31:410-------302---------9

4)--Raybrig NSX-----------1100---598----1.81---1:32:535-------298---------8

All NSXs are a little tougher to handle than GT-Rs. But are way more fun to drive.

Fastest: Epson
Slowest: Raybrig
Best handling: Takata Dome, Arta
Worst handling: Epson
Personal Fave: Takata Dome, Arta

----------------------------------------Lexus------------------------------------
1)-Petronas toms SC430-1100---676----1.60---1:31:475-------302---------8
2)-Eunos SC430-----------1100---639----1.69---1:31:897-------296---------9
3)-Bandai SC430----------1100---638----1.69---1:32:003-------297---------7
4)-Denso SC430-----------1100---641----1.69---1:32:185-------297---------7

ALL Lexus's are boring to me. They are easy to drive, very predictable, and dont feel very fast. They drive like they dont have any soul. except maybe the Eunos. All lexus's need atleast 100 to 200 more hamsters to make em exciting.

Fastest: Petronas Toms
Slowest: Bandai, Denso
Best handling: They all handle easy.
Personal Fave: Eunos, just because it handles slightly worse. Makes it a tiny bit enjoyable....(yawn)

----------------------------------------Toyota--------------------------------------
1)-WoodoneToms Supra--1100---703-----1.54----1:29:991-------315--------8
2)-Yellow Hat Supra-------1090---612-----1.75----1:31:779-------302--------8

4)-Au cerumo Supra------1100----560-----1.94---1:32:923-------289--------8
5)-CastrolToms Supra'97-1150---534-----2.12---1:33:013-------283--------9

All supras kick ass!

Fastest: Woodone toms (fastest JGTC, with Fastest lap time, stats compare to GT-Rs)
Slowest: Castrol toms'97
Best handling: both Castrol Toms
Worst handling: Woodone toms (because of its high Hp), Au cerumo
Personal Fave: both Castrol toms, Woodone Toms (just because she beat everyone else)

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=140008

Slowest: Xanavi Z :ouch: :banghead: :)

Yes,the Supras kick ass.I miss my Yellowhat Supra.:(

Lol , can't wait til next season .

Races should be closer , I'm sure everyone will go for the cars they love.

I will miss this old format though , its nice to have everyone in a different car and I do prefer the longer races to short sprint ones.

I watched the fuji replay yesterday , it was a boring race for me couldn't catch immortal and gprilli spun out so I was basically racing by myself all race . It was fun to watch allascato and tyrell they battled all race it seemed and allascato got the upper hand by pitting 1 lap earlier than tyrell . they must of passed and re passed each other about 10 times for the race.

Gprilli has done a great job in the Z , I really can't believe he hasn't got a race win yet , he is one of our best drivers here.

Interesting to hear about Soopa and his lack of paying attention to his tuning , sounds like he will be fast this friday

Thanks for posting that lowzikai, very interesting read...

@SkengD, I dunno about fast, I still don't plan to do much practise but I should be a bit more competitive than I've been in previous weeks, now I have a few more PP on my side :) I agree with you on preferring longer endurance style races, but I think the new format will prevent those long boring lonely races for someone each week, as you say it should make things a bit closer and therefore exciting too... can't wait

Season 3 should also make the title race closer , much closer .... I think

I'm really looking forward to season 3, I really enjoy sprint races. Gna b good

I've been lucky in that I can't recall ever having anything even close to a boring race in this league 👍. I've had bad races but never boring races.

Anyone coming on for some practice later ?

After a short practice my best is still a 2 10 5xx
