MINECRAFT 1.12 update questionPS4

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone is having issues with the minecraft 1.12 update. I had the update last year ( Europe) and USA got it a day or two ago. So my friend in USA & I have the same update but we still can't join each others world, message keeps popping up say he is using newer version. We just don't get it

There are quite a few console minecraft players from the U.S. and Europe that frequent the minecraft news and discussion thread, they may know something.

Looks like the devs are aware, according to this tweet today from 4J Studios:

In the next update, we'll fix the issue with #MinecraftPS4 in North America not being able to play with players from the rest of the world.
