DV4000? Aiptek or Mustek? I've got a Nisis Dv4 somewhere, which is essentially the Aiptek with a silver lens cover.

Aaaanyway, you probably wouldn't notice that much difference - particularly on a camera costing £30. It's not worth wasting the money (unless you've broken the old one or something). You'd be better saving and getting a budget mini-dv one like this. You get £40 cashback from Canon, and the quality will be sooo much better. However, if you're really after a compact solid state one, the basic rule is to just go for the highest specification for the price. Half of them have the same internal components, so it makes no difference which brand you buy. One thing to bear in mind, though, is that the camcorder style ones aren't necessarily the best at taking videos. You'll get just as good a result from mainstream digital cameras.

its going to be gaffer taped to the side of a race car, hence a cheap one so i dont really care if it gets trashed but still would like something with decent quality.had a look on youtube and the DV6 seems okish but i know youtube does reduce the quality.my old one was a mustek dv4000.

Oh right, I see . Just a heads up, though, digital cameras have a habit of switching off if something jolts it. I've attached a few (all cheap) to RC cars and, unfortunately, they've all been useless. I don't really know what you can do about it, other than giving it a try to see what it can withstand. Maybe some insulative foam between it and the car would help, too. And if it's going fast, you'll want to look for one that can record at a higher frame rate. 15fps is ok normally, but I should think it's pretty awful when going fast. My DV4, for example, had difficulty keeping up with anything more than fast hand movements. Head for 30.

yeah i have heard that. Was talking to a guy at the weekend that bought an HD camera to do his incar stuff and it kept turning itself off when it got bumpy.Had my S9500 in a GT3RS and that didnt seem to have any problems except from the sound going at some of the bumps(was bolted to the roll cage, playing on recording the sound remotely next time and dubbing it over as with the camera on the outside all youll get is wind noise)
although the dv4000 i had did take some fair hits and kept going,(fitted to rc cars and planes)
will look out for the 30fps thanks.

How about one of these?

£100 and it's designed to be attached to a mountain bike/cyclist's helmet so it should be rugged enough to be mounted on a car.
