Be careful, Peugeot and Toyota, because the Mini is here!

There are some monsters (no pun intended) turning up at Pikes Peak this year!

That's not the point. The point is that Mini probably could have done a whole lot better than Dayraut. Maybe they wouldn't have found someone on Loeb's level, but they could probably find someone who actually stands a chance.

Except the wings it looks kinda cool. So far the Peugeot is still my favorite looking car by far.

Who's Dayraut btw ? I never heard of him.

I think I'm right in saying that PP is now paved all the way up. Loebs skill advantage of Dayraut would be lessened... however Dayraut is still maybe not the best choice, although since he's been Ice Racing Mini's maybe that was the decider?

Seb has talent, I wouldn't deny that. But he's not proven his dominance on a tarmac surface in any way like he has on dirt/mud/snow etc.. so it's not a foregone conclusion.

Dayraut's times at last years climb were great -- until he DNF'd!, this year his car is lighter and more powerful.

I bet you 1 whole penny that Seb finishes ahead of the Mini (presuming both finish...)

So long as you take IOU's I'd take that bet for no other reason than it'll make it more exciting.

I actually wouldn't be at all surprised if Loeb did beat Dayraut... but the way people are going on here, Loeb's the second coming of christ and Dayraut's a noob... Dayraut was on course to win the unlimited class (and beating the time attack class) last year but a mechanical problem followed by severe interaction with some rocks denied him that -- this year the car's got 900 horses and is 75kg lighter (according to WCF http://www.worldcarfans.com/113053058248/mini-countryman-getting-ready-for-pikes-peak-video)

Make it interesting, state Loeb's margin of victory if you're that confident?

I can't predict the gap, as I haven't been a huge fan of The Peaks since this year when I feel it's really got interesting. All I'm saying is Loeb has a good chance of beating the record.

It looks great! I'd like too see it without the splitter and spoiler though.

So um his 9 wins on the Rally of Germany (tarmac) means nothing ?
How about Monte-Carlo, sure it's on ice/snow, but some seasons it was more tarmac than anything else. Rally de Corse where is has a few wins is also on tarmac and the current Rally de France in Alsace (where he's born) is also on tarmac and he have a pretty impressive record there.

Rally is not only mud/dirt/gravel. Dont forget it.

If the 208 doesn't have any problem, Dayraut has absolutely no chance.

In rallying Loeb is for me by far the fastest on tarmac just look at the numbers, and he can be very fast on the track too.

I know him, If he goes to pikes peak it's for the win not the second place.

Loeb is not a legend for nothing 👍.

Oh yes. I like this 👍

And in all fairness, nearly everyone is dead meat compared to Loeb.

I know him, If he goes to pikes peak it's for the win not the second place.

He's the biggest name at the race, with the Red Bull marketing machine behind him, and the backing of Peugeot, in what's probably the highest budget vehicle, a win will be expected, of course.

He'll certainly be the fastest rookie in the unlimited class ;)

That is if he makes it up the mountain...it will have the final say on who wins or not. The car might break and when your pushing 800hp+ up a hill its a question of when not if somethings gonna happen.

Well the engine comes form a LMP2 car I think that is running 24h race where the drivers now push at 100% all the times. Sure it can break but it's not a special engine made only for this event, it already proved that it can last much longuer at full use. I wouldnt worry about it that much.

But yeah everything can happen, he can have a puncture and be out after 30 seconds.

@RoadandTrack: An 8:13.878 run for Sebastien Loeb. He took the @PPIHC record and ran it through a shredder. Well. Done. #8MinuteClub #FoundingMember

Has the MINI been?

i win a penny! :D

IOU okay?

So I'm in the pub at the moment, the red bull coverage was getting too tedious. I've not had a chance to check the timing yet, but if sebs time is that far above the rest.. Well, you have to consider how much was Manufacturer Backed, Red bull sponsored car, and how much was loeb. I've not seen any of the other runs yet so....

The closest was Rhys in his Hyundai with a fast 9:02. Doesn't look like there'll be a faster time thanks to snow.
