Excluding the one make/manufacturer races anybody know what's the minimum number of cars required to win every race?

I appreciate that many players actively collect cars, but personally I try and keep the number of cars in my garage manageable, and if it starts to creep above 70 or 80 I usually hold a "garage sale" and clear some out. I was doing this the other day when I started to wonder how few cars you could actually own yet still be able to win every race in the Beginner, Professional, Extreme, Special, European, American, and Japanese Halls (maybe I've missed a hall but I'm sure you get the spirit of the question).

Alternatively, what's the minimum number of cars required to win absolutely everything in GT4?

Besides the manufacturers' events, I believe you only need to buy a truck for the Beginner Hall. The rest of the game can be completed without buying any cars.

Trig, I'm talking about owning not buying.

Well, whether you win them or buy them you still have to "own" them at least for one race. Are you talking about getting a car, winning a race and then selling the car and the car you won (if you don't need them for some other race)? If that is so you really only need one car in the garage, the one you won the last race with...
In reality you probably need one of each type (FR, FF, 4WD etc.) good enough to win each race they are qualified for. You could probably win a lot of the races with:
(4WD) Toyota Raid Rally car (Special condition 2),
(MR) Nissan 89 (Mission 34 series),
(FR) TVR Speed 12 (But I think you need the Speed 6 to get it).
(FF) One you get in the Licenses

Don't know if these cover Turbo/NA etc. But I bet you could win a lot of races with these 4.
Still have to have a truck for that one race, though. And an old car (Cougar?) for the classics races. Others? Of course many races require a certain country's car, so those wouldn't be covered yet.

Interesting question...

I know one thing for sure, you definately need to have a F1 to compete in Formula Gran Turismo Championship. The only way to own one is by race the Nurburing 24hours in the endurance hall.

No you don't. You can use an LMP. I won the series with the Audi R8, as have some others (there's a thread in the write up section about it).

A little list..............
A Rally car that can win all the rally races (and also 4WD challenge) I suggest a Mitsubishi 3000GT (or an Impreza, then you can do Boxer Spirit as well, both can do Japanese 90's and all Japan champ).
An MR car - if you get a Saleen or Ford GT then you can do Supercar cup and Premium Sports with it as well.
An FF car (a Japanese Compact for K-car and Japanese compact or maybe a peugeot 206 for French Championship and Euro Hot Hatch)
an FR car (Can do lots with these, Stars and Stripes if it's American)
An Italian Car
2 German Cars (Schawrzwald Liga)
A DTM car (These are good for some of the Enduros as well)
A British Car (XJ220, then you can do Pan Euro as well)
70's and 80's Japanese cars
An American LM car (American Championship)
A truck
A convertible ('54 Vette - can win Old Muscle Car cup as well)
A historic Car (for 1000miles, Euro Classic, World Classic - The Jag E-type's a good choice)
A JGTC car (Japan GT champ, enduros)
an LMP/Class-C (Audi R8, Minolta, Sauber - can do pretty much all of extreme hall in one of these)

Did I miss any?

Lol, yes I forget to say most GT players will need a F1 for this race. Excludes Route. 👍

I made this list for another thread earlier, this is every car you need to buy to reach 100% (you can't win any of them).
Emohawk
-Chrysler Crossfire
-Subaru 360
-any truck
-Toyota Vitz/Yaris/Echo
-any Isuzu
-Mazda Miata/MX-5/Roadster
-any(?) Aston Martin
-Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220
-any TVR
-Daihatsu Midget
-Daihatsu Copen
-Honda Civic Type R (for both the Civic race and the type R race)
-Mitsubishi Mirage
-any Nissan kei car (for the March brothers race, there's a bunch of cars that I don't remember the names of that qualify. I don't think you can win any of them)
-any Suzuki kei car
-Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS
-Saleen S7
-any Shelby (IIRC, they all qualify for the Cobra cup)
-Audi TT
-Audi A3
-either BMW 1 series
-Lotus Elise
-Mercedies-Benz SL class (you can win both MB races with it)
-either MG
-Peugeot 206
-Renault Clio
-Renault Megane
-Triumph Spitfire
-VW Beetle
-any VW GTI

That should help some, but you'll still need a bunch of winnable cars for manufacturers races, an FGT, and an LMP (if you don't want to use the FGT for those races).
