My problem is that I keep hitting R1 to fire. In Mirror's Edge, R1 is to reverse direction. The cops have been getting free head shots from me turning around like a tard.

Completed it yesterday morning so had around 10 hours Story Playthrough on Normal Mode now playing through on Hard Mode :), Best game i've played in a while it's excellent!

I just finished it this morning as well.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful game. This game must be played in high definition or you're missing the whole point.

Finished it just earlier this evening. Quite well done, though some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy, but what can you expect from US voice actors :P

There are certainly some quirks that would turn people away... the controls can be a bit confusing at times, but I've found I prefer them to the far more vague controls on other FPS games. I found the more I've played it, the more the game does what I want to do, so I'm starting to think more of the initial frustration wasn't that the controls were bad, but they just made it so you have options... or something.

Starting to collect the bags and do some of the time trials. Will add to the, to me, short story mode (8 hours or so). I actually enjoy the combat in the game too, because each enemy is a serious threat and makes you think heavily about how to engage them.

Certainly worth playing, in my opinion. My room mate can't stand it though, but he is a completely different type of person when it comes to games.

Your room mate can't stand it? Why?

Does he no like it because it doesn't have big, beefy men with chainsaw guns or that Faith doesn't have gigantic tits?

Hardly, he loves Little Big Planet for example. He just isn't into platformers that much. He can see why I like it, and we keep making fun of how it has some "bro appeal" because you can use guns :P

He doesn't care much for Ninja Gaiden, either. Does like racing games, Little Big Planet, and RTS games and such.

If his problems with the game were as you stated, he wouldn't be my room mate

So I'm guessing he didn't make himself a SackFaith:

And use it to play the LittleBigMirrorsEdge level.

Here's some interesting news:

Mirror’s Edge DLC Packs a PS3 Exclusive
Posted on 12/4/08 by Jeff Rubenstein // Social Media Manager
Just wanted to pass along some news I received from EA today… Mirror’s Edge developer DICE is planning a special treat for PLAYSTATION 3 owners. When downloadable content for the game is released in late January, they’ll make an exclusive Time Trial map available free, only for PS3.

More info on the DLC from EA:
Players will be challenged to achieve the fastest times possible on nine races across seven all-new and totally redesigned Time Trial maps. No guns, no cops, and no city: this is true aesthetics, agility and flow that will challenge any runner.

There is also a video trailer for the time trial available on the link to that article. Looks pretty weird. :)

My only issue with Mirror's Edge, and for anyone that owns it, please correct me if I'm mistaken, but is it incredibly repetitive or is that just a false impression I got from the demo? I understand the premise, was looking forward to its release and liked the demo. I just have the feeling that after a week I won't touch it again. I plan on renting it at some time to answer these questions myself, I just haven't made it that far yet.

It was repetitive for me, but mainly because there is sometimes a lot of trial and error when determining exactly where to go...

TBH, I got really frustrated on a few occasions. :) I finished up to Chapter 5, before giving it a rest to play through GTA4 again. I'll definitely be going back though.

You're not alone. Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation reviewed it this week and he said that you could play the demo over and over again and have paper doll story cutscenes between each play and have the same experience.

That's about what I figured. Visually, I think it looks outstanding. A different kind of outstanding from Uncharted, but outstanding all the same. Game play was my only hangup, which apparently was spot on. Unfortunately.

Hey all

I finished the game on normal, and started after for the hard, and WOW nice colors, graphics, story line and game play....really the game rocks and every time you play it is different coz you can take different routes or choose to kill or not kill any one ;)

the trophies are cool and hard, the online is very challenging, every chapter is different depending on how you play it and what you're doing:dopey:

 all

chapter 2 speedrun sucks! been at it for 3 days now. I know I can pass it just can't string a clean run

that map is said to be stripped to its core. No details; everything is interactive. Not a ladder, roof, pole, wall, etc..

Parkour 101 haha or a Parkour's Ultimate Dream. Unlimited routes.

Im dieing to play it, It will really push you to not mess up, and make you feel great to be able to take different routes without thinking about it... Thats what this game is about, Thinking faster then you can move...

You mean the maps? Yes, the maps look stunning, they should be released soon as well.

January 29th. You should see some of the comments people are making... "Oh, this is dumb, Parkour is all about urban enviroments, not Mario blocks." Clearly, they have no imagination or flights of fancy, and demand the most from games. Now, I could bet money those criticizing the imaginary enviroments never actually do Parkour, but whatever.

The only thing that disappoints me about Mirror's Edge is the lack of an online multi-player game mode. I can imagine a lot of entertaining and challenging possibilities with a multi-player option for this game. 👍

EA releasing DLC? I hope they aren't to steep on the price for you guys, but hey at least they released DLC AFTER the release unlike the latest NFS...

$10 USD is the price I've heard tossed around. With 7 new levels, that is quite a bit of content, given that the original game has 9 primary chapters and a prologue.

Di-Ni, at first I was thinking "well, we have time-trail, what else would there be?" But putting a bit more thought into it, a tag game would be a lot of fun, as would capture the flag.

Just got my platinum

Chapter 2 is hardest speed run just because it is so long. 5 is fairly hard as well as 9 but being only 6 minutes long and with only having 2-3 short cuts and being able to skip all the gun fights bar the last one 9 isn't as bad as i expected.
