i know a lot of you will probably find this easy, but i have tried so hard and just can't cath up with that first car by the mulsanne corner.
i mean i know you can just cut across the gravel trap and get into first by the end of the first right-left corner, but thats not how i wanna do it.
Has anyone got any tips?

thanks:tup:

The trick is to draft the other cars very tightly. Listen to the wind noie to hear how you're doing. With drafting, I was able to pass the cars just before the chicanes (3 cars, 3 chicanes). This gives you an open and smooth drive through the chicanes.

By utilizing this technique, you can exit the chicanes at a higher speed, allowing you to catch the next car that much easier.

Listen for wind noise. If you hear it, you're not drafting them.

Good luck,

AO

MR. Brightside, download that Video. You'll hear, just after Famine swerves out from behind the car, the wind noise. That is your clue. You'll also see how he's able to catch the cars before the chicane.

Daan, are you planning on collecting (and posting) a few more of those replays? It'd be an excellent learning situation. I'm sure I'll download more than a few. :D

I offered them - although they aren't actually mine to offer :D - to Jordan, and said he should contact daan if you want them in the Downloads section.

I'll certainly be giving Mission 11 a whirl when I get home tonight, as, after 34, 23 and 10 it seems to be causing the most trouble.

Hmmm...

I have an NTSC replay of #12 that is pretty clean (and that one had been my curse for 2 weeks). I'm currently swearing at the Plymouth in Seattle.

daan's just added that one (Seattle)! :D

wow, after all this time trying, i passed it on my third try after starting this thread, so it really did help. with Der Alta explaining the theory, and then watching that video of how it works in practice, it was a killer combination.
you should add another section to the forum or something specially for missions and license tests cos that helps so much.
cant say how much that helped

cheers

any one got any tips for this one its the trial mountain one with the 350z i just cant catch up with the skyline at all? help ne1? :dunce:

yeah, what you gota do is not brake until the hairpin (you can, just have a bit of faith :scared: ) and then brake late and take the inside line. there hope that helps 👍

Don't bother. Mission 11 is now up. I'm a Mission Machine! Just need to get 34 now...

Bastard!

I was looking forward to running that too. Better not have beaten my time...

Do pay attention, 007...

Just brake as late as you can for the chicanes. You can brake really late, and not compromise your exit whatsoever (you compromise yourself in the first half of the chicane, but the chicanes at Le Mans are so bloody long). Just consider the first turn of the chicane (they go right-left-right and left-right-left) as part of your braking zone, and steer into the corner while you are on the brakes.

Oh, and don't drive close to the walls on the straight, it slows you down slightly.

Not having a bright day, Mr. Brightside? Believe it or not, if you run the Slipstream Battle tests, you'll be able to have a sense of what this race is all about. While it is boring to race Renault Meganes (or are they Avantimes? I forget.) on the high-speed Le Mans course. Just be sure to draft them. In other words, when you get into a rival car's slipstream, you have the chance to inch closer and closer to a rival car at speed, and then overtake. Since you have only three cars to pass, take each one at a time. If you know how to tackle Le Mans' two chicanes and the slow corner after the Mulsanne Kink, you're in good company.

When you pull into someone's slipstream, try to overtake, hold your line afterwards, and then pull away from that car. If you sense the rival car following your slipstream, you'll need to get out of the draft by shifting to another lane. Keep doing this until you eventually reach the final car. Remember, don't introduce the rival cars to the front end of your car, or you'll get a 5-second penalty for your actions (meaning, start over!).

So Mr. Brightside, look on the bright side. This thing can be won. You just have to watch your speed, follow the racing line, and adjust to where you can overtake successfully.

yeah i knew you had to slipstream, but it just wasn't happeneing for some reason. iv done the slipstream battles, apart from the skyline one as everyone seems to be having trouble so left it, but i think i'll go and try it in a bit.
all this is a great help, and as iv said in an earlier post, i wouldnt have passed the mission without it. 👍

Erm, I got annoyed with this so I cheated.

As soon as the chicanes came along I got extremely close to the side of the track and ran across the gravel. Then I just lamped it, worked a treat.

just want to know, what are you actually using, pad or wheel?

I should be using my DFP, but I'm using a DS2 and buttonbashing.
