It's the Nürburgring with Ford GT 40 vs. a new Ford GT. I thought I could never make it considering I was never a fan of Nürburgring, nor am I a great driver, I'm decent on a good day. After a couple of fails in the first 2 minutes of the circuit I finally got to the finish, thinking halfway there that I'm probably going to end up about half a minute shy of the gold trophy. I was wrong, I ended with a time of 7:53.xxx which then encouraged me to get better at it and I ended up with a time of 7:43.xxx I believe. I know that it isn't an impressive time but considering all the facts, I'm proud of it.

How did you guys do, what are your times?

Coolio ! After trying a few times, I finally managed to gold this one (7:48,065). For those who are struggling with this one, these were my settings:

AS: Strong
TC: 0
ASM: On
ABS: 1
CSS: 7

I doubt I could beat this without ASM on.
Took it easy the first time and got a 8:03, 2nd time got a 7:51.3, 3rd trough 9th time went way too fast, got sloppy. Slowed down on the 10th time and got a 7:49.4.
Will return when I feel I can beat it without ASM.

Failed miserably the first 30-35 times, then I slowed down and tried to just stay far behind the AI. I finally finished the course behind the AI with a time of 9:07. Just shy of bronze. Then tried again pushing in the safe areas and did an 8:20 IIRC. Still not silver, but that was enough swearing for one day. :D

To get all the way through to the long straight and go off after the slight left bend was very upsetting :D I was ahead of the AI at the time. I know the track and found it was almost more difficult to go slow and stay on track as it was to go hard and stay on track.

I need to take the car into arcade mode and practice a few laps unhindered by the AI competition.

I did it in 7:33 something. I didn't really push that hard, and was backing way off in places where it's probably ok to go flat out because I just wanted to get to the end without screwing up. Probably would have been quicker if I knew beforehand that you didn't actually have to win the race. I would have let the AI pass on the straight and caught the slipstream instead of blocking it.

I think I passed the AI car early and just kinda head it most of the lap. It doesn't really tries that hard to pass you. My first completed lap was good enough for gold around 7:40 ish.

2nd time round, messed up a couple of times, but I still got a 7:43 something... :P
Not that hard TBH, all you gotta do is ignore the other GT and concentrate on your lap, he'll overtake you on the straight and you'll re-overtake him on the second to last corner, simples! :D

7:33:xxx , tcs off abs 1 rest off
Took me long as he'll cause the car kept hitting me.....-_-

I just blocked him :p

3rd complete lap and I got a 7:45, after many, many restarts.
Got to know the course a lot better!
I finally ended up blocking the new gt all the way down the straight. Didn't have to deal with the brake check = game over scenario that way.

I wonder with the new update to the handling of mr cars, if the mission would get any easier?

I am having a really hard time with this. I've gotten gold in everything else, but I can barely finish a lap in this car. It is just absurdly unstable. The only time I could finish a lap was with ASM on, and that just feels like cheating. I failed at least a dozen laps when the car loses all grip after hitting a pebble, or the AI trying to pass when they shouldn't and causing a collision that is somehow my fault. I got silver on the one lap I was able to finish (7:54 was my time).

I can easily overtake the opponent during the first few turns, but I often have to brake when cresting hills to keep control, and the AI doesn't so they push right up against my side.

Any suggestions? I really want to do with with aids off.

ASM made it extremely easy for me. Take it easy and see how far off the gold you are. Speeding up in only a couple sections can make a 10 or 20 second difference.
My first finish was also in the 7:5x range. Next one was under 7:50 and I only adjusted the very first few corners of the track. They are pretty slow corners so you can be more aggressive.

I feel like I have the first few corners down pretty well, it doesn't take me long to overtake the opponent. Its the night driving that effs with me. I don't know the track well, partially because I don't care for Nurb. Its far too narrow for how tricky it is, and for a one-on-one battle it is ok, but with 6+ cars on the track it can be a pita to overtake. So I never really learned the track well.

I'm going to really focus on this tomorrow, but I might try to install 1.03 first and see if that helps the handling. It kept crashing my ps3 so I gave up on the update.

Sign out, load GT6, then sign in at the menu/select notifications, download as you would.

Worked for me.

Do you crash at all when it's dark?
I'm not a fan of the track either, cause I've never dedicated much time to it.
Focus on the sections you know well then, I'm sure there's a couple.
On the ring, 5 seconds is really nothing.

I got 7.46.xxx with no helps (ABS 1)… and it was a pain the de behinds.. lol tried that crap for like 2-3 hours….either i was being hit by the car or i would hit the barrier. but still, got the gold and got the hell outta' there.. lol

It was easier than I made it to be. I was desperately trying to overtake the GT in the first few corners, thereby colliding and getting disqualified. After many attempts I realised it was better to just hold back until I found the space to overtake and just keep the GT40 on the track, even letting go of the throttle quite a lot to be sure. I didn't see any point in blocking the GT on the straight, just had to make sure I didn't hit it when it slowed down. Got a 7:43 on my first completed attempt, even saved the replay because I was that proud of it!

I don't know how you guys manage to beat the gold by 10, 20 or more seconds ! When I saw that it was a mission on the Nurburgring I was really concerned because the other missions were already challenging (for me, i.e. I spent like 5 to 10 attempt on each of them, and maybe 15-20 on Le Mans). It already difficult to run a complete lap on the Nurburg without leaving the track, having an heavy pace during all the lap seemed very complicate, especially with this car.

First of all I have to specify I didn't toucht the settings, I just let the usual driving aids (except the blue line that becomes red when you have to break which is really for beginers...), and SRF is imposed by the game so... (when I'm not in missions I remove always it).

One of the main issues I experienced first was the overtaking of the other car. I was not so stressed to overtake as soon as possible (at first) because I knew that after he was going to put me the pressure but the problem is that you cannot stay for too long behind it because it would slow you down too much. Then you have to overtake and it is risky because if you are unlucky with the pattern (like you just arrive behind him in a succession of turns...) you might have to take risks and then just touch him (an even minor contacts from the behind leads to disqualification, happened to me a lot...). Then the next issue was not to be overtaken because then you have to overtake one more time like at the middle of the track and you cannot afford to lose a trial on which you already spent 5 minutes or more for such a stupid reason...

Then I finally succeed to finalize 1 attempt like after 5 (or maybe more) trials. My time was 8'16 with only 1 huge mistake that cost me like 10 seconds. It tooks me some time (like 5-10 extra attemps...) to be able to finalize another complete lap, without error and with a good pace. My second time was then 7'56. It took me again 5 to 10 extra attempts to be able to finalize a new clean lap with an higher pace (due to track and car learning and more confidence in taking risks). My time was... 7'49"7. And I was very proud of my pace and that I was able to have a clean lap on a track that is so long (I did some small mistakes but without a lot of impact on the time), I even saved the replay.

Of course it is possible to improve it but then it would really request to learn and optimize each section (doing dedicated sessions for each section) and then maybe, with a lot of practice I could win something like 10 seconds (15 or 20 maybe if my life was depending on it and if you let me try and retry during several weeks...). But it is frustrating to see that some of you are almost able to do this almost without having to practice. Clearly we are not all equals (and I'm a player of GT since the 1st episode...).

First lap with a spin and slow recovery, 7:59....

2nd lap the white car tapped me on the long final straight and sent me into the wall.

3rd lap kept clear of the chase car and did it with a 7:40. lap.

Very easy
