I was wondering what kind of beer you all find most pleasing. Are you a Miller man? A snobby micro-brew bratt? A euro-beer guy? Brittish ale type?

Let's hear it.

I have varied tastes and it depends on what I'm in the mood for. Lately it's been lagers and pilsners like Pilsner Urquel, St Pauli Girl, etc. I love that malty aftertaste and clean snap going down (salivating and trembling like Homer J)

But I love many others for what they are, too. I imagine many of you might be the same (but I also bet some of you are religious about a particular brand). I plan on posting more than once, as they come to me. There's just so many great ones.

You might even introduce someone to a great beer they've never heard of :)

P.S. I fully admit this thread is derivative of TVR King's "Favorite Drink" thread.

Winter Beer = New Castle Brown Ale, Guinness, and Bell's Double Cream Stout

Summer Beer = Corona ;)

I hate domestics (MGD/Bud, ect).

Storm King Stout is the a really good beer too. It pours out almost black and is really smooth and creamy and chocolate/esspreso flavor. Plus, it's 9.1% alcohol. The perfect winter beer or dessert beer.

Matter of fact, I've got it now.
Victoria Bitter.

for a hard earned thirst, you need a big cold beer and the best cold beer is vic, vic bitter.
Nothing beats Vomit Bombs when it comes to beer.

Actually, other beers do, I'm just making fun of VB.

i mean a full strength beer. 5% and upwards. bitters will sort you out mate.

YOu wanna talk strong beers? Sam Adams Millennium is 20%, and World Wide Stout 2002 is 23%. :D Woohoo. That's like downing 4 shots of tequila. lol

if a beer has that much alcohol content youd be better drinking sherry or a good muscat/port.

A 24oz can of Steel Reserve is like 9% and only costs $1.08!! It's not bad for a malt beer. I'll stick with the double bocks or good stout's.

I'm suprised nobody's mentioned Henniken yet.

I hate Henniken, yet I love Corona.

Anywhoo.......

Nothing like a nice thick beer with a nice medium rare burger or steak and baked potato. MMmmmmmmm........

<cracks open another Guinness> :drink:

I'm a fan of European beers, such as Stella and Grolsch. I'm also partial to the odd Guinness from time to time.

When it's available: Long Trail - Blackberry wheat.

When I can find it: Bitburger or Warsteiner

Old standby: Pete's wicked Strawberry blond or Corona.

AO

Is Victoria Bitter Available in the US? Never heard of it. Sounds good though.

I had a can of that Steel stuff for the first time a couple weeks ago. I hadn't even finished one glass (yeah, I poured it in a glass) and was buzzed. Nice taste, too.

Another good all-purpose beer is Fat Tire, and by the same company, Blue Paddle.

Foster's was my first love, but I got tired of it after a while; for the past 4-5 years, I've been a Bass Ale fan. Tastes good, even warm (few desireable ways to have a beer at the beach in S. Florida, not taking a cooler is one of them).

Bitburger and Warstiener are a nice find, but hard to track down in these parts unless you go to a German alehouse or real liquor store. When I visited Barcelona, the restauant below the aprtment served Warstiener on tap (...heaven...)

On a tight budget, this new Michelob Amber Bock isn't half bad, but it's not as hearty as a real bock, or even the Samuel Adams bocks.

I've never heard of a 20% alc/vol beer. At that point, I'd probably enjoy a Long Island Iced Tea instead.

I'm not a beer snob, but I'm not a beer redneck either. I like more taste than Corona or the legion of American lagers has, but I stop short of the "cold coffee with a head on it" school.

I prefer lagers to ales, though I'm partial to Bass Ale. That's probably my favorite beer if I'm just having a few. If I plan to have 6 (or so) I like Samuel Adams original lager, Fosters (love the oil cans, but it's better out of brown glass), Grolsch, or a couple locals like Iron Hill.

For cheapish beers I like Michelob, Mich Dark, Killian's, and Stroh's.

For cheap beer nothing beats Rolling Rock.

Guiness on tap, served correctly (thick head, not too cold), with some chips and vinegar with Colemans mustard is pretty damn close to absolute bliss.

I have tried to like Bass and I think I did at one time. But I have lost my taste for some English ales (Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale :ill: ), but I'd drink it if offered :D .

Newcastle I like. And there's another I can order but cannot type/spell for the life of me. Does any one know it? Sounds like McCewens? (mik - kew' - inz)

Hmmmmmmmmm?

I'm a big fan of Cascade and Hahn. I enjoy drinking Vic Bitter a lot of the time (love those ads!), but Johnnie Walker is the beer that really does it for me. I could get pissed on JW by 8 a.m. in the morning and carry on drinking all night if my girlfriend let me!

It is. Excellent. It has a great taste, and you can't get pissed on it, so you can drink a whole lot and not spew! Bewdy! Not that I spew . . .
