I received a warning from a Mod for "Bumping" my thread. As I posted in it I was looking for race car's in response to other forum member's questions. I'm on multiple forum's and always have positive reviews and feedback. I think this is a little extreme for a racing game forum. 👎 I will however will be contacting someone higher to complain on this Mod as I feel what he did was unfair. And not called for.

Looking for race cars
Warnings serve as a reminder to you of the forum's rules, which you are expected to understand and follow.

All the best,
GTP Forums

Thanks,
Tony

You are of course free to take this as high as you like, however please be aware that our AUP here at GT Planet has always contained a section relating to spam/useless posts, a category that the site owner considers considers BUMP posts to sit firmly in.

This is the same AUP that you agreed to follow when you joined GT Planet.

Its the same AUP that is repeated in the Marketplace sub-forum, and reads like this....

Famine
Please bear in mind that the Acceptable Use Policy applies in this forum just as much as every other place on the site.

This means you must use English to the best of your ability, including appropriate use of capitals (punctuation would be nice too, but we're not after miracles) and textspeak is banned:

AUP
# You will post all messages in English.
# You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.
# You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack any individual or any group.
# You will not knowingly post any material that is false, misleading, or inaccurate.
# You will not use profanity in the forums, nor link to content which contains offensive language without sufficient warning.

Please also note that "bump" posts are utterly without merit and will be classed as spam, as will multiple consecutive posts from the same user ("double-posting"). Posts and threads will be removed if they fall foul of this.

Lastly, if you want to ask people for, or offer, actual money for an in-game car, this forum is not appropriate for that. Real-world transactions must take place in the Trading Post forum, and only GTPremium members may post threads there (though anyone may participate) in accordance with the rules of that forum.

AUP
# You will not post advertisements or solicitations outside of designated areas or without proper authorization.

These are rules that have been in place here at GT Planet for many years and the mod in question was well within his mandate to act as he did.

GT Planet is proud of the fact that it does not operate to the same standards as the majority of the web, we set the bar much, much higher.

Its part of what differentiates us from the usual text-speak, abusive ridden, huge picture filled signature, bumped to death dross that passes for forums on the majority of sites. Its this difference that our long term members appreciate and, as they often tellus, the reason why they stay here.

We are well aware that these standards often come as a shock to new members, which is why warnings are given and offending posts sometimes deleted. However I have to be blunt, the chances of these rules changing as almost non-existent.

Which leaves new members with two choices. They either adapt to how GT Planet operates (and many embrace it) or they leave.

So I still have not received a proper answer as to how "looking for race cars" a "bump" when answering a forum member's question. So again you can post link's to the rules all you would like. But it no way, shape, or form was this a "bump"! So I'm not aloud to answer questions is what I get out of this warning? I already did contact Jordan, was not hard to figure out who to go to. I think if you want long term member's improper warning's is not a way to keep them. Also threat's from a Moderator is not a good thing either, as I feel very violated.

Thanks,
Tony

I have just checked the threads/posts that have been deleted, which were mainly a Carsale one and a Looking for a racecar one.

In both you have repeatedly double posted and in both you have bumped the threads, either by using the word 'bump' or by posting basically meaningless messages that carry the sole aim of bumping the thread.

You should be aware that while members are not able to view deleted post and/or threads, the staff are. The posts that I have just seen are clearly in violation of the AUP and to be honest I can see why the warning was given and the threads deleted. I'm also reasonably sure that any administrator and/or the site owner would agree with me.

To give this a little more context, the Marketplace sub-forum is currently the central hub of low-quality posting on GT Planet, a situation we (as in the staff) do not wish to see continue. As such any thread that the OP 'bumps' will be deleted and the member given a warning. Should they continue to ignore the AUP then infractions will be issued, these carry points, get too many points and a ban follows.

To be honest I can't think of a better way of ensuring that it gets back on track, a track that simply involves following the AUP all members agree to when they join, and the same set of rules that governs every member on this site.

I'm very aware Mod's can read deleted threads lol, you think I'm that stupid? And to one person meaningless messages could be serious messages. So how can you enforce a rule that has endless option's. Does not make sense.

Not proper English and you should received a warning for that, as seeing you guy's hold a "High Standard" and a Moderator can not even type properly. You guy's are a joke!

Thank's,
Tony

The warning was accidentally issued to the wrong post. It was my intention to hand it out to the one that consisted of the bump, but I missed.

Also, try re-reading Scaff's post - he actually spelt it right the first time.

Actually he did not, he edited his post after I pointed it out which I guess I should of quoted it, So it would of been there for everyone to see. But nice try! So sound's like you did make a mistake, and these mistake's are made by Moderator's of a "High Standard" Website? Guess I'm confused!

Thank's

Infractions and warnings are between you and the moderators and not to be publicly discussed. You were given this infraction for accusing a moderator of being a hypocrite, even if you never said that exact word - you implied that the moderators were not observing the rues they were enforcing. - interludes

And I received this for "Pointing" out what you guy's go by as rule's, not attacking! So again you are wrong!

You're trying to humiliate a moderator?

Honestly, do you want me to ban you?

Humiliate? No, pointing out fact's yes! Before you ban me I'd still like to hear from Jordan.

Thanks,
Tony

Please stop being so ridiculous, as they only person this will end badly for is you.

Nothing in the AUP states that if you spot that you have made a spelling mistake, grammatical error, etc, that you are not then permitted to go back and correct it. Quite the opposite, its something we strongly encourage.

I did not see you post when I corrected it, as the log shows that you were posting at the same time I made my correction. Well strictly speaking I made my correction a minute before you hit the post button.

However I would strongly advise you to address your own posting issues before you comment on mine, particularly as yours are strongly at odds with the AUP.
