Yeah, the spur gear completely stripped and took out the pinion gear with it after I was fiddling with the force of their meshing. Evidently, there was too much force.

Yesterday I replaced the rear left lower control arm, and the front right body mount. The shock mount for the control arm got stripped shortly after I got the car, so I fixed it with epoxy. It didn't hold together very well, and I was bored, so I replaced it. Cleaned up under the skidplate and around the suspension as well while I had it apart, but I'm afraid that I might have gotten some water in the differential, as the driveshafts are out of the car. It shouldn't hurt it, though, because I don't think the differentials are sealed around the shafts, and would let water in when assembled.
 
Hmmm. Problems with my car today:indiff:

I started it up in my garden first and it started after 3 pulls which i think is good seeing as it hasn't been started in over 3 months. Anyway, it ran fine but the idling was a bit high, no problem.
So next I took it to the park, started it up and then put it into full throttle, there was some smoke indicating it was rich but then maybe after a second of full throttle the car really slowed down to about a walking pace so I lifted off the throttle and the car idled fine again. I tried again but didn't lift off the throttle again and the car stalled. Hasnt happened before and I assumed it was rich. When the car stalled because its rich, the pullstart is hard to pull and the car starts up after about a few pulls. This time the pullstart was really easy to pull and started straight away.
I fiddled with the fuel mixture valve but I couldn't fix the problem. It was either too rich and stalled or done what happened above. I would have stuck at it but the remote batteries were low so I called it a day.

Can anyone help or got any advice?
 
I bought myself a rather powerful looking Schmacher XTR3e Nitro truck off ebay for 121 pound, it stated that it was in full working order however when i recived the car (months late) it didn't work at all, I spent a further 80 pounds getting it to work. After a few truly ace drives, it broke on a beach in France while i was on holiday. I had a brief look however it was evident that some sand had got into the wheel bearings and the resulting friction melted them together. I have spent lots of time and money the truck and I am hoping the replacement part arrive soon. It probably been a more sensible idea to buy a less powerful R/C as my first ever Petrol (or nitro in this case).

What do you think? should I sell it or stick with it
 
Stevisiov90, from what i've heard the xtr3e is not a very good handling car because it is a big block rear-wheel-drive, thus giving it alot of understeer and they re supposed to be quite fragile but you do have to remember that hitting something at 60MPH is always going to do damage... if you are used to it now there is probably no point in getting something else unless it is cheaper or you have a reason for changing, although i do not have much experience with trucks/buggies so i can't say for certain, if you want to find out more go to www.tamiyaxtreme.com and ask some guys there... i have gotten some really helpful info from those guys...

BTW, here is my new toy minus the engine that i am waiting for (OS.12 TZ) modded, which will be my first full-spec race car. It is a Kyosho FW-05RR which cost me $650AUD. It is a shaft-driven 4WD just to show those belt boys how a real car is built...lol

I have a older nitro R/C, a 1:8 scale Ofna Ultra GTP that I added a few personal touches such as a starting shaft in place of the pull start (which broke) to allow me to start it with a electric drill. It needs quite a few parts now though, because some were either lost or wore out.

Once I manage to get a job (which could be very soon) I will probably put a bit of money into it to get it how i want :)

Oh, but one has. (Its not a nitro car, but thats still fast!)

I have a HPI Super Nitro RS4 I haven't got it to run yet but maybe once I get some fuel and a glow starter that works it could be possible.

I'm thinking of selling it but do people buy discontinued cars?
 
hurray. my aluminum bulkheads and shocktowers are fitted. the rear bulkhead still needs some machining. want some pics? front skid made from aluminum is on there too
