This is my first animation ready asset for an animation I am making about racing, I'll update this if people seem interested in watching RacerXLIII episode 1 on release. :)

Update November 18th:

This will be updated in a couple of weeks as I gain more assets. I have a stock car that's in production, and a house set. So I might start being able to get some test animations rendered out with the generic Japanese sports car you see modeled above. :)

Update November 21st:

Worked on assets for a lot of hours on the 19th, and today, I am currently working on the house, which I have a few screenshots that will be uploaded tomorrow. :)

Update November 22nd:

Doesn't look like anybody has moved in yet.

First, set in production :D

That looks nice 👍 The little slots under the front bumper turn signals need a bit of work though, they seem to small

After about 14 hours of development time for this one car, I stopped exterior fixes. Although I might make Engine or Interior or Texture improvements. This car has I believe 190,000 polys.

edit: grrr, I spotted a dent. :| Oh well... can't make it perfect.

If anyone can think of a better name for a series of short films about fantasy stock car racing than RacerXLIII, feel free to suggest it.

Quite a nice model. 14 hours of work put into that? I honestly wish I had the patience for anything artistic. After about 30 minutes of futzing around, I'd probably wind up getting sidetracked.

I'd also look forward to seeing your racing animation as well. Good work!

Thank you very much :) I also have a stock car that has 4 hours into it, its coming together quite nicely. :) The stock car is completely original, but this car is only like 70% original, because I started off with a 200sx that somebody already made, but it was garbage, I had to redo every single body panel. 30 minutes of work from nothing would put a car at about 80-360 polygons in the general shape of the bodies profile view :)

PD puts about 300 hours into theirs. :)

I kinda wish I knew how to do all of that. I guess it goes without saying that it's a very involved process. And if you don't get it right, you have to reconstruct the model, like you did with that 200SX. I'd actually be interested in seeing a before and after photo of the model.

30 minutes of work for 360 polygons tops? Huh. So, I suppose you can lay down about three polygons a minute if you're on a roll and know exactly what you want to make?

300 hours for a single model. That's dedication right there. Especially with their attention to detail.

Pretty nice 👍
I used to model cars in 3d all the time, even putting my oldest ones in NFS: High Stakes for PC. Over the years though I kinda lost interest in modeling real cars, and solely made my own fictional designs. Though, I really should finish up some of my unfinished projects someday...
BTW I once made a 180SX lol. That one caught people off guard since I was known for modeling supercars at the time.

They multiple pretty quickly after that because they start crisscrossing each other and the basic shape is already there. :P

I'm a noobie too, I've only been doing asset creation since July. I started in 2010. But I was only 15, in October 2012 I made the jump to 3D in a junky program with no tools, then in July I switched to a full fledged 3D animation and asset creation program. :) This is the same program that's used in the big films. :)

Update is sooner than expected! More 1080p renders tomorrow!
