Modified cars

Does anyone have a list of which cars are considered 'modified'?
I understand the term in relation to a car like the Jaguar XJ220 Race Car, but some of the concept cars are also considered modified, even though there is nothing to them that seems to make them any different than the 'not modified' cars. I just don't understand the term.
For example: Is the Clio Renault Sport V6 Phase 2 modified? I'm thinking about buying it, but this is a important factor...
 
All normal street cars are "unmodified", race cars, tuner cars and concept cars are considered to be "modified".

Go ahead and buy the Renault, it's a normal car and thus unmodified. :)

The Buick Special is, because the only thing on that car that is an original part is the body...It has a full tube frame and all. The GNX is unmodified, as far as I know. Are you sure that they list the Rufs are modified? They are an independent manufacturer after all. (Lets not get started on that conversation again though, Rufs - Tuner or Manufacturer, please.)
 
I have entered the RUF CTR in a few "Production Only" races. If it was considered a "Tuner" or modified car it would not be allowed to enter those races.

Oddly enough though, GT4 won't let me enter the RUF CTR in the Premium Sports Lounge Extreme event. It seems premium enough to me as it has a better performance and higher value than some of the other cars that are allowed in that race.

Maybe it's because of its age (1987), but then again, you can enter the AC Cobra, early Shelby's and even the Toyota 2000GT which are all around 40 years old. Frankly the restrictions for this race appear not to follow any specific guideline.
 
Any car that isn't bought from a dealer tuner shop (Nismo, TRD) or Tuner Village is Unmodified, or a Normal Car. Anything that looks like it might be a race car (decals give it away, so do ginourmous wings) usually is a race car. All rally cars are race cars.
