no offence... but whining and having an opinion are two different topic
Correct - so let me perhaps clarify my opinion on whining
I have no objection whatsoever to people voicing a negative opinion. I do not consider that whining, especially when the negative opinion is justified - and there are certainly areas where GT5 could improve.
I do however object to seeing a potentially useful discussion forum being inundated with the same people voicing the same tired complaints over and over and over. We heard you. We may even agree with you. You have made your point. Stop. If we were all in the same room together would you have the nerve to repeat the same point over and over as seems to be the case here ? Of course not, because if you did you would be ostracized rather quickly. The anonymity afforded by the internet permits such thoughtless anti-social behavior and even allows its perpetrators to brazenly defend the practice under the guise of free speech. This allows anyone and everyone to selectively ignore the fact that the problem is not that you cannot/should not voice your opinion, but rather that you should not endeavor to repeat that same opinion ad infinitum to the boredom and ultimate annoyance of others.
In real life this behavior rarely takes place and when it does it is generally within groups of like-minded people who have found the need to gather and stroke each others egos in compensation for being marginalized elsewhere due to their behavior.
I have not been around here for long but not long after I joined I began to appreciate the environment around here - I especially like the rules about trying your best to write with correct grammar and punctuation in mind - to the best of your ability. It's a pet peeve of mine and it was refreshing to see it addressed here. Recently however this positive opinion of gtplanet has been marred as already clearly described. I was hoping this thread would result in a consensus that whining (as described above) would be actively discouraged and/or facilitated in a separate forum. I see some folks agree and others don't. This is as you would expect and that's fine, but it would be nice to find a common ground so that those who need to vent can do so without bugging the general population with the same old tired rants.
Speaking of whining - that is not what I am doing. I am voicing my (negative) opinion of whining in this single thread and this is the only place I will do so. Elsewhere it will be business as usual and I will have made my point. No need to keep whining on about it
