That's right, this weekend I got to shoot my first ever wedding! It was a small wedding for some close friends, but it enabled me to shoot 600 photos throughout the day and both myself and the couple were over the moon with the results.

I thought I'd upload a select few for GTPlanet to see and pass opinion on. It was a beautiful sunny day and everyone involved was friendly and very co-operative when needed. I really enjoyed doing these kind of photos! 👍

The photos will go in order from the start to the end of the day, and pretty much all of the formal photos have been missed out since they're fairly personal.

Anyway I'll shut up now and let the pictures speak for themselves;

Very nice shots, Moglet! One comment and one criticism and one observation:

Comment: I like the mix of black and white and color. All the same throughout the day would get old, but I think your combination was very good.

Criticism: The background of the groom carrying the bride is a bit distracting. It's almost out of focus enough to be good and it's almost in focus enough to be good, but, at least to my eyes, is right in that difficult area where you can't ignore it and focus completely on them.

Observation: You snuck a picture of yourself in there! 👍

Overall, I'd say you did a solid job! Well done! :)

Thanks for your feedback, TB! I'll take a look at the background in the shots where the bride is being carried as I took several of each position in both portrait and landscape. And yes, I snuck a photo of myself in there! That was taken by the groom, he's got a good eye for photos himself and I think it shows considering the photo of me was a snapshot!

Good eye... didn't notice that myself till I read your reply... probably down to the lens used? Nothing photoshop can't fix. :D

Nice set! Wedding photography is good fun... especially if you're doing it for a friend...

Great stuff Mog. I really enjoyed the set. Is wedding photography something you will be pursuing actively in the future?

Camera / lens(es)? Also, I have little to criticise, they're a fun bunch of shots - but this shot arguably could have done with a little fill in flash on the face from low on your right/her left. Did you have a flash available?

Also, did you use a 'wedding shot list'? :)

I've two weddings booked so far... one on May 2nd (did the recce of the church yesterady, arg) and one in November!

Awesome job 👍 I've been Best Man at two weddings now, and been to several more too, including family weddings, and I've still to see a single "Official" wedding pic from any of them, leading me to believe that the whole "Wedding Pic" business is, frankly, a bunch of arse... these pictures, however, have restored my faith somewhat, because you've captured the moment perfectly. Regardless of the technical quality of your pics (on which I cannot comment, being a photography philistine etc. etc.), I'm sure your mates will be delighted to have these pics as a keepsake. Let's just hope they share them with the other folks who went to their wedding, unlike every wedding couple I've ever met!

I did have a flash available but it would have been too direct to use in this situation. Not sure what you mean by a 'wedding shot list'? I didn't have any specific instructions on any shots to make since they wanted more personal shots and less formal ones, I did do a few formal photos in the gardens but I haven't uploaded them.

I think they will be showing them off to everyone! I really enjoyed spending the whole day shooting the event, it's definitely something I would do again. From what they have seen so far they were very very happy with the results so that's all that matters to me really. I was very nervous about not getting it right on the day as it was such a special event but even I'm pleased with them 👍

"Wedding shot list."

But your answer is, fairly clearly, no. :D Good stuff.

I did have a list, I printed it all off and gave it to the couple a few weeks beforehand when I visited the location to take some light readings etc. but they said not to worry about that as they wanted more casual images. I think it worked out better that way!

They said they preferred me doing it as they knew I could get some personal images and it wouldn't be weird having a stranger there. 👍
