Is there any scene or moment that forces you to sacrifice your manly-hood and have to cry or as some would say "give you feels"

I have a small list:
Pokemon
  • When Butterfree left Ash
  • The entire episode of Pikachu's Goodbye
  • Jessie's Backstory
  • The story of Jessie and Blissey
  • When Entei Sacrificed himself in the 3rd Movie
  • When Latios Sacrificed himself in the 5th Movie
  • Victinis backstory
Yu-Gi-Oh

  • Kite's and Shark's death
  • Atem's Farewell
Hunter x Hunter

  • Meruems death
  • Pakundas death
Hunger Games
  • Rues death
  • Prims death
Parasyte
  • Final Episode
Cardfight: Vanguard
  • Misaki's backstory
  • Kourin's Memories being erased
WWE
  • Edge's sudden retirement
  • Daniel Bryan's sudden retirement
Your lie in April
  • Most of the 2nd Half
Star Wars
  • Darth Vader's death

I've seen a lot more Movies that made me cry than the ones I mentioned but I'm struggling to think of the Movies.

...The final speech in The Dark Knight gets me almost all the time. It's a pretty corny line in isolation, but combined with Hans Zimmer's score, plus the scenes and events that came before it, and the way Gary Oldman delivers his lines, are just too darn effective. Even the poorly edited-in scene of Bats riding off in the bike can't dampen the emotional effect of that whole set-up.

Now on the opposite end of the spectrum, it's that scene from Armageddon that makes me cry - you know, that scene where Willis is saying goodbye to his daughter. I laugh myself sick until I cry whenever that scene is on.

There are lots more of course, but since we are on technically a "geek-oriented" site, I'll limit the choice to these two.

For now...

As divisive and overly sentimental as it is, Ricky Gervais' " Derek " gets me during most episodes. Especially in series 2, when his dog is put down. Man, was like a punch in the stomach.

Goose's death in Top Gun used to get me all the time, as do several scenes in The Pursuit of Happyness.

Hachiko, watched the damn thing in the morning when it came on TV, cried all day everytime i remember some scenes from that movie.

Initial D 2nd Stage, when the 86 engine is blown and Takumi cried, it felt really sad.

Titanic, when that old couple laying on the bed while the ship sinks, that was heartbreaking to me.

The end of Rush, i wasn't born yet in that F1 era, but Nikki Lauda's speech at the end about James Hunt with the montage of the real racers was really cool and sad.

Furious 7 ending, yeah yeah.... i know.

Wow, nobody has mentioned the Futurama episode yet?

"Jurassic Bark" it is, then. I don't know anyone that can sit through it without getting at least a little emotional. I can't even hear the song without thinking about Seymour.

Iron Giant still gets me too. And a few parts of Up! (easily the first 15 minutes).

One of the (many) deaths in The Wire affects me:

Bodie :(

I completely forgot about that episode, I would also add the one where Leila finds her parents. Groening has a way of getting some emotion into his work.

Can't remember anytime aside from the Senna documentary. I am heartless though.

  • That episode in Deadliest Catch when it was announced to the fleet that Phil Harris had died was rough to watch.
  • The ending of Runaway Train with Manny standing on top of the lone locomotive as it speeds into the blizzard was quite hard to bear.

Does anyone find it much more harder to cry than it was when you were a kid.

For me, as a Kid I would cry at anything that involved death or releasing a Pokemon, even if it was predictable

Now, I have to be the attached to the character to let out a tear ad it cannot be something I saw from a mile away (Han Solo's death), I didn't even care for the ending of F&F 7 because it was obvious that it was coming. Sometimes I'll actually laugh when there is death with no unpredictability and I don't care for the characters yet. Everyone in my Japanese class is obsessed with AoT and were given feels from the first episode when Eren's Mother got eaten. I cracked up laughing at that scene, I knew it was happening and the 1st Episode is not enough time for me to care for the Main Character. Then with what I mentioned before with Kourin losing memories, that really got me because I was given 150 Episodes to get attach to her and see her grow. She even starts developing love for Aichi and gets a lot of friends and obtaining a strong and lovable personality. Then they kicked you in the nuts with her backstory that she actually lost her original memories due to being specially recruited for the whole Link Joker crisis and if Link Joker was defeated, so would her new memories of 150 and so episodes, she was willing to be Reversed just to keep her memories but failed :(
.

I can happily watch Pokémon being slaughtered wholesale without batting an eyelid but a scene from the first Avengers movie gets me every time for some reason. The one where the old German guy refuses to kneel before Loki.

Honestly, I would enjoy watching Pokemon get slaughtered too if the Pokemon haven't received any buildup or importance to the characters to get me invested in the character of said Pokemon and its bond with its trainer.

If a random Pidgey just got ran over by Team Rocket I would find it hilarious, the Cubone's Mother storyline in the games couldn't make me care as it made no logical sense plot-wise into why it was murdered in the first place but I'd probably create waterfalls with my tears if Ash's Pikachu got killed off.

I think I would cry if my Pokémon save got wiped out at the end of a long campaign.

...

Well, recently my hard-earned progress in A Link To The Past got wiped out by a noob mistake. That was unpleasant.

There are two scenes in Click that make me cry like a baby every time. Those who've seen it should know what I'm talking about.

Angel beats almost gets me crying at several parts.

Episode 9 of Band of Brothers, appropriately titled Why We Fight, always has me in tears. I've never seen such a genuine representation of a death camp in any other piece of fiction. Episode 10 of The Pacific is quite rough as well.

The ending to Captain Phillips usually have me in tears too, and serves as a testiment to just how good an actor Tom Hanks is.

Boston Legal had several tear jerking episodes as well.

Honorable mentions to How to Train your Dragon 2 and The Judge.

Gran Torino really moved me as did Million Dollar Baby, both are great movie as well. I cry like a girl tho XD so there's a lot of movie that made me cry some stupid, some not XD

Wouldn't say I cried really but heres my short list of what I can think of at the moment.

The last ever episode of Futurama.

Ending of Furious 7...ok I did cry a little bit on that one.

Edge and Daniel Bryan retiring from WWE.

Jeff Hardy leaving WWE.

When Sansa and Brienne went through the vows of Knighthood on the recent 6th season premiere of Game of Thrones, it was a very emotional moment.

There are certain things that made me feel emotional and I got tears in my eyes, that episode of the Simpsons when Homer's mother comes back into his life but had to leave because she was on the run, that scene at the end where Homer says goodbye and he sits on his car bonnet looking at the stars gives me the feels every time.

Also as a Wrestling fan Edge and Daniel Bryan's retirement gave me the feels too, Bryan's especially.

I shed a few tears at Jack and Sarah, when Sarah (Imogen Stubbs) dies and Jack (Richard E Grant) reacts to the news. It's a really good film.

Also the scene in Trainspotting where Begbie (Robert Carlyle) puts the pool cue clean through the cloth of the pool table, that one I cried laughing at so I'm not sure if that is what the OP was after. :D

Million Dollar Baby
Agreed. ^

This chokes me up. Set to play at the correct scene.

Also the ending to The Last Samurai (2003)
and John Savage's speech in The Crossing Guard (1995)
and William's scenes with his father in A Knight's Tale (2001).

Optimus Prime dying in the original Transformers Movie.... I was about 6 though - so it was before all that Allspark bull crap.

More recently, I know there's been stuff that's jerked a tear, I just can't think what or why. The line "Chewie, we're home" instantly made me well-up in SW:TFA trailer, however in the film itself, not so much. I'll also admit that the final scene in FF7, ... that got me right in the feels.

All of those were to do with 'external' factors though. Optimus dying was a big deal 'cus I was six and he pretty much represented a good guy hero figure... Seeing Harrison Ford as Han again was bound to make me emotional, since I feel I've 'known' him for 37 years.. and though I acknowledge the F & F films aren't great, I was 21-ish when the first one came out, and it's kind of always been there as a cultural influence for the last 15 years.

As for films that made me cry simply because of what was in them, I can only think of Moulin Rouge, and Lost in Translation. I think possibly the first time I watched the Shawshank Redemption too.

SENNA had me choking back the tears, but I think that was maybe just effective film-making and alcohol, since to be honest, I don't really care.

Yeah, actually that was pretty emotional.

These always pull on the heart strings. Very deeply.

The other movie that makes me cry is Saving Private Ryan. Well, at least the first 15 minutes.

Bing Bong. Manly tears were shed.

Yeah Pixar is good at doing that crap. The Good Dinosaur was the most recent one to make me nearly shed a tear

But the biggest offender is you UP...screw you. Every flipping time, I mean gosh I nearly need to fast forward through the false hopes and promises Ellie starts with, only to just settle for her new found dreams and accomplishments with sir grump. I even cry when his house ends up at the end of the falls as a last send off to Ellie that he'll probably never get to see again. Anyways Pixar the greatest death bringers of people/imaginary friends, also makes some hefty feels.

...Just a thought - now that this thread is up and running (-ish) how about doing another thread for "HELL YEAH" moments in Movies/TV? Or is there one like that already?

That sounds just as interesting as this one, right?

Never saw one, so maybe :P.

Weird, I rewatched the first Arc of Vanguard and Ren finally being cured from his obsession of PSYQualia gave me some feels and teared me up, probably because of how much I love Ren in the later seasons and seeing this transformation of Ren probably hit me. This is probably the only time I cried the 2nd time I watched a scene and not the 1st.
