What am I going on about?
Each week, including this past week, about 1,000 to 2,000 GT Planet members check in to see what is on our menu.
The real problem is that you aren't racing with us each week. Sure, GT 7 is getting a bit long in the tooth, but racing with other humans raises your game to another level. You could race chaotic Sport races, but not all on-line lobbies are like those. You do have a choice.
Join us each week and actually get better. These races are designed from the get-go to help you become better drivers, if you stick with us.
Did you struggle with the current Weekly Porsche Safety Car time trial? Why? Be honest with yourself here. Why?
Was it because the car had a soft suspension and it was wobbly? Because the tires weren't grippy enough? It was getting dark and you weren't ready for all of this?
Enter our challenging races to get off of your comfy couch and struggle a bit. Raise the bar. We use any car - once (check out the list of
retired cars). We use all tracks in both directions, so there are no favourites that you race every day just because you know them like the back of your hand.
If it is in the game, it is fair game.
And on top of all of this, our races are about as fair as GT7 allows. We all use the same car with the same specs and parts. No tricks can be played, stock power and weight, too. These are like IROC races. Not BoP'ed, either, so now you can safely learn about tuning within the same limits everyone else has. And if you aren't familiar with tuning, then I or others can help with that, too. I do my best to take an investigative approach to tuning, to make a car handle and perform well enough to at least get you safely through the night of racing.
We all earn our place at the finish line. The least amount of driving aids are available, so we are all challenged, in many ways, to do better, regardless of if you are a pro or a new player. Helpful aids, such as the yellow map pins, give us a clue as to where we need to be for an efficient driving line. The standard driving line can be used, too, and they both help you manage driving on unfamiliar tracks or in the "wrong" direction. Your braking will be what you are used to using, by still allowing anti-lock braking. Even I still use that aid because I don't use a load cell brake pedal. 😇
No points are earned or accounted for, no prizes at the end of a night of racing. You gain the satisfaction of doing the best that you could.
And the question is not how good you are. The question is whether you are more interested in just being good or in
getting better. I would like to see you improve when you race with us. I have seen drivers do it, so I know that you can impress yourself, too.
But only if some of the 1,000 to 2,000 of you join us each week. We have some room. We just need
you.
