Hey guys,

I've been living with a huge overscan issue on my toshiba 55HX70.
Its bearable on GT5P, but on other games, part of the HUD is cut off, so its really ruining my experience.

I've been asking around on the internet, but no one has been able to help so far. However I have obtained the service manual, but I don't know how to go about fixing my overscan problem...

Can anyone lend a hand?

Thanks in advance

Looks like a few other people have the same problem you have. AND they have the same name as you!!! :P

Stupid question time - have you tried the PIC SIZE button to make sure that's not the problem?

hahaha,
yup thats me...
love this forum
replies are so fast..

god i hope thats not the problem...
ill check when i get home

my tv does have a 1080p picture size option (which i have turned on)
makes the tv into a 16:9 mode by putting lines at the top and bottom
doesnt help much though

thanks again

EDIT: the pic size button seems to do nothing...
i do have the service manual, so could i just change the position of the image on the screen?

What other settings does it have besides the 1080p picture size option?

Absolutely nothing...
I can snap some pictures of the menu and put them up tonight.

Other options i remember seeing are Convergence, brightness, contrast, etc. (the usual things).

EDIT: I called toshiba tech support,
they recommended using the Pic Size button as well, but as I said before it does nothing. (he then rambled on about referring me to Sony and asking them something about "fixed picture size" or something)

Then they recommended to connect the PS3 directly to the TV (I'm using a receiver right now), so i tried that after i hung up, but that did nothing as well...

Any help is very appreciated.

the monitor doesnt have on board speakers
and im using a hdmi cable from my ps3 to the monitor...

how in gods name do i hook up speakers....

One word - Logitech.

Full range of specs covering a full range of prices. Something to fit everyone.

I can vouch for the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 system. Awesome bang for your buck. Great quality for what are essentially glorified PC speakers, and the subwoofer can really shake stuff off the walls...literally! Very powerful system and is plenty loud enough to fill a very large room. I used my set in a 20ft wide by 40ft long dance hall for a party and there was plenty of sound. The subwoofer even hit hard all over the place.

i picked up a set of 5.1 logitech computer speakers from a friend (funny story with this see below)
and by sheer luck he had an adaptor that converts composite audio cables into a female jack that lets you plug in PC speakers
now i can play GT5P WITHOUT THE EDGES CUT OFF!!!
thanks for all the help guys (especially TB)

funny story: my friend picked up a 5.1 logitech PC speaker set at bestbuy (can't remember the name of the product), and one of his speakers broke. Logitech carries a 2-year warranty, so he called them up and they said they'd send him a replacement speaker. But in the mail, he gets a new SET (not just one speaker) and they havent mentioned to him to send his old ones back! 👍👍👍
i love logitech
