I was going to build a copy of the Zalem cockpit but couldn't get a hold of the square tubing in the size that I wanted not to mention that it was going to cost over $100 for 24'. I found the virtual roadster and started to make my own interpretation of it. I used 4 10' pieces of 1 1/2 in EMT conduit. Yes i know that welding galvanized metal is not good. I grinded it down first and wore a respirator. It took a while to figure out some of the angles, and notch them correctly, but I think I did a pretty good job. I just have to get some gas for my welder. I tacked it together with a flux core welder. It just needs final welding, grinding, and paint. I also have to fab the mounting of the wheel, pedals, and seat. I have these figured out and just have to get another weekend to get them done. Here is some pics of it sitting in my home theater after I finished tacking up the final piece. The seat was $30 from Jegs and another $20 to ship. I may get the padded cover for it but its actually pretty comfy. So far I'm into it for $100 including seat and hardware.
Another thing is that just the seat is going to adjust. I figured if in a real car only the seat adjusts then its fine for a video game. I based the measurements off of my BMW.
