I have a conflict of interest and has just wondering if you all can give me some suggestions. Here's the problem: My girlfriend pre-ordered GT4 for me a month or two ago as a Valentine's Day present. That's the good part, the bad part is that she decided to have it delivered instead of just picking it up in the store. This means it won't even ship until February 23 and will take 4-7 days to arrive. This also means the earliest I will be able to play is around 3pm on the 28th. This means I will be waiting an extra week and missing out on an entire weekend. What do I do? Do I pretend the U.S. release isn't until the 28th or do I go out and buy a copy before class Tuesday and then return the copy she ordered me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If she found out you returned the game she bought you might have A

on your hands and she would be like

if you know what I mean.

Whoa91
thats y i told my gf dont buy me gt4 or ill kill you :yuck:
  Ain't that the truth??!!

First, you gotta ask yourself, "Do i love her?" If the answer is no, buy the game on the 22nd. If the answer is yes, buy the game on the 22nd.

IT'S A WIN-WIN BABE!!!!!!

I would wait and pretend the release date was the 28th or 29th, whenever it comes in. Its the thought that counts, and a gf that is willing to buy a gift that might cause her BF to ignore her for a few weeks is a good gesture :)

i don't know if it's true that you'll have to wait until the 28th or so, it depends on the place you're buying it from and when they get the games, I once bought a cd online before the release and received it the day before it was actually out it stores, I guess the place I bought it (Futureshop in Canada) had their shipment before the release date and sent out their internet orders with the store shipments, meaning I got the cd before the stores were allowed to put it on their shelves.

If something like this happens with GT4 you may get the game earlier than you think, also while it goes on sale on the 22nd, many places will get their orders that day and they may not stock it until that evening or even the 23rd.

it's the thought that counts. Buy the game on the 22nd, and if she freaks out tell her "it was a parfect gift, I just couldn't wait the extra week to get it"

If she flips out, tell her off. Odds are she won't be around long once you start playing GT4 anyway.

Rent it from blockbuster. Then hide it if she's ever around or when you leave the house. That way you'll only spend a few bucks on the rental and you won't have to deal with selling the one you bought.

Spend the extra time with your GF. No video game is better than a girl...

I remember way back when, when GT2 came out, I pre-ordered it from Buy.com... and it showed up on Christmas morning... but now that I look at the original release...that was December 17th...never mind...

You can't wait one week?

It's only a videogame. Do something more constructive, like showing how much you appreciate your girlfriend for giving you a PS2 game.

remember even if you return her cpy, she still bought you the game, she would probably be happier to know that you are enjoyng the game more (as long as it doesn't take time from ehr) sit down and explain it to her in female terms, probably soemthign about makeup, or looking good and new cloths i'm not quite sure about all these yet, but make it seem extra important that you get the game early

Just go get another one man.

She'll most likely be offended if you buy a copy before the one she ordered comes. Seriously, man. just wait that extra week. It's a present from her to you. The copy you would get if u bought it yourself wouldn't have the same sentimental value as the one she ordered for you.

It's just one more week. After you actually start playing it for a while, it won't really matter when you first got it anyway.

Just wait it out.

Let's see a picture of your GF first, then we can tell you if you should buy another copy or play with her...

hahaha

;)

Just wait. It's only one week.

I bought my copy of Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas the day it was released, but I never had a PS2 until roughly 5-6 weeks later.

Do any of you guys even HAVE girlfriends? This is the worst advice on a board i've ever seen.

Let's see.. a game you can wait for and play at any time after you get it versus a girl which might not necessarily always be around. The way I'd look at it is, GT4 is replaceable. So are girlfriends, but if you place a racing sim over a human being, it is a sad day for humanity. Or a really freakin good day for racing sims. :sly:

On a serious note, I'd wait. Getting GT4 six measly days early is not worth hurting your girl's feelings - let's be mature about this. Use those six days to get your house or room or whatever into some kind of shape to invite friends over to play GT4 networked. That's what I'm doing :) Use that time constructively!

have some ritualistic hot pre-race sex for a whole week.

Come on guy you can wait one week! You have been waiting for this game more than one year cause of the delays, so one more week isn't so terrible.
You have an awesome girlfriend who has made you a great gift. My advice is : enjoy the week of waiting with her and do things that are far more interesting than playing a game.... ;)

This may not solve your problem, but I'm getting two. My GT3 is scratched to hellinback and I hate greatest hits disks, so I'm getting two copies of the game and putting one away for when the other wont play anymore. Just a thought, you could keep both. Your only paying for one anyway.

I would wait, i mean the fact that she did all that for you is nice. I wish my gf did that for me ha, but yeah if you truly like/love her then you should wait. And returning the copy she ordered is a little harsh i say 👎 , but I hope it all works out in the end man :)

She thought about you. This is it. As for me, I always prefer offering a present than receiving it. Don't cut her pleasure. Don't take the risk to hurt her for a week of play. A present is a present, accept it like it is.
And you're not obliged to lie about the real date of release. Tell her the truth. She will appreciate your choice to spend some time with her. She's the girl you love ? Well, can't justify comparison between her and a game, even one of the best ones.

Well said 👍 , i wish i could write that good lol, even though i know 2 languages and starting on a 3rd  lol.

If I had a girlfriend who did this for me, I'd be kissing her that whole week man... Be happy with a girl like that, spend some time with your girl, show her how much you love her (well, if you do..) and just wait for another d*mn week.

No game, even the best, can ever win from a girl. Well, that's my opinion.

Like many folks here, I am (literally) counting the days until GT4 comes out, but if I was in your shoes, I'd wait... a kind and thoughtful jesture (like buying you what will be your favourite game) deserves another...

In the meantime, you have my sympathy for having to wait a wee bit longer, but I'm sure it will be even sweeter when it does arrive...
