the moral is: you dont have to be rcih, or have anything to be happy!

I've got some better morals:

  • Advisors to powerful people are sycophants, with no tangible solutions to their problems.
  • The King may be "always sad", but he OWNS you.
  • No matter how poor you might be, some bastard will always try to steal the shirt off your back.

mhmmm. You know, we planeteers should hold a global summit. that would be quite interesting.

Having money doesn't automatically you happy - having no money doesn't always mean you are sad. I've seen people grow up from a fairly poor background, slowly gained everything they ever wanted from life - material possessions, big house, holiday home, nice cars, beautiful children, good famlily life, huge weddings - yet still manage to be both unhappy and chronically insecure.

On the other hand i know people who have very little, they struggle to make mortgage payments and have few material possessions, just enough to get by on - but are very secure and happy with themselves.

Happiness comes from finding peace and balance within your own mind. If you are ok with your self image, your lot in life and your place in society - Then you are more likely to be happy. Happiness comes from what you have on the inside - not what you have on the outside.

Having dreams is also an important thing in our lifes. If we have the money and means to accomplish these dreams, then these dreams are no longer dreams. Most of the time, when you get what you want, it is mostly a disappointment.
Poor people have dreams as well but they can get what they want, so they keep dreaming about it. It's a dream (a fantasy), you can do what ever you want with these dreams. Mostly they make you feel happy (unless jealousy kicks in). When a dream (fantasy) comes true, it becomes reality and it is not what we expected, which make us unhappy.
It also depends where you live (cultural background). And like The Cracker said:

self image ==> jealousy and other negative feelings (or positive ofcourse)
peace of mind ==> if you have peace of mind, balance between body and mind (ying and yan), materialism, money, power is not important.

The moral is .
Drink beer and party all night and wake up with out a shirt and the King will think you are happy !

or take prozac and even without a shirt you will be happy .

or who needs a frikin shirt I have a twelve inch willie and the wenches love me !

What did you expect?

You post ambiguous morality tales, detached from the real world.

The obvious moral that he wanted us to draw is that you don't need material things to be happy. The obviously implied corollary is that things cannot make you happy. I disagree.

Happiness does come from what you have on the inside - which renders the question of rich or poor irrelevant, and his story incorrect, since the only happy man in the entire kingdom is the poorest one.

And it is nonsense that people with less are happier than those with more, e.g.

I have 2 6800 ultras, I have a friend with 1 Radeon 9600. While I am cruising over a totaly to scale map of london with advanced mesh provided by VFRLondon at a rate of 80 fps, he is hitting his head against his joystick trying to land in Luton with 9 fps....

Who is happier?

But you both have video cards don't you?

I've got an old PC at home used for basic word processing and GeneRally, it has no graphic card as such - Does it make me less happy than you?

...like Famine stated, certainly not since you use it for flight sims :boggled:

Not just flight sims, FLIGHT SIMULATOR 04!!!!

Ive just noticed that I have changed all the google ads at the bottom of the page to graphic cards ads...

But I am happier, since I can play LFS and NFS

Yep - and if you aren't you're either too old, too young or lying.

Why get at us? You post an ambiguous "morality tale" based on a facile notion of equanimity which bears little to no scrutiny. Why's this our fault?

The moral of the story is: - be depressed and no-one will take the shirt off your back.

Why do the Americans now find it okay to use W*****? That's like **** over here

Why is everyone wearing shirts? Wear a T-shirt, much harder to take off your back.

No its not like ****, as it is used against someone it is closer to "b****" or an explicit version of "tosser".

Another way of veiwing it is the term "d*******"

Who the hell says, "oy! you bloody wankers!" in Florida? Can't say I've met them.

I thought that wanker meant jerkoff . At any rate " wanker " sounds funnier . Maybe create a new name like wankoff . tosser I never could understand ..sounds like it means throwup or vomit ." You bloody vomit " or "you throwup " just doesnt have the hitting power as "you wanker " Although tosser could mean something like F *** *r ( as in give her a toss ) ahhh then being a tosser would be like being a *****r and that could start something . But if you had a choice between being a tosser or a wanker hmmm then what ?
