More GT5 Development

Just a quick question... Who would have waited another year or two for him to completely finish GT5???

I would have... I was really looking forward to the free-roaming mode where it would have been a large open city with laws and the ability of getting in and out of your car. In my opinion it would have made the game a lot more fun.

they were talking about putting a mode in like that? that would have been horrible imo. But yea i agree, but i heard sony pushed them to release it early to get more sales for the ps3 and on top of that people were getting all ancy and ripping out their hair because all the delays.

True they were under a lot of pressure, but look at how it turned out... I mean to be honest GT5 is getting a little boring. Don't get me wrong i love the game but there's only so much you can do with 20-something tracks. That's where the free roam made would have came in... Imagine you and 4 buddies all online racing, draging, and drifting online with other computerized cars just driving along the streets... that would have made sick replays...

Don't get me wrong i love the game but there's only so much you can do with 20-something tracks. That's where the free roam made would have came in... That's what I'd love about free roam. It'd be fun to drive like crazy in the streets. Only thing, I don't think they'd implement "following" traffic laws. The computer cars, yes.

I had already waited 5 years, I would've been fine still waiting. I can tell you that I'd sure have gone a lot farther in Black Ops if I never had GT5 (I completely dropped that game as soon as GT5 arrived).

Haha same i still play Black ops occasionally but i honestly hate it... servers lag way too much, takes way to many bullets to get a kill, silencers ruin your guns which means you have to be loud, and MW3 is coming out in November so GT5 should hold me till then

Imo the heart of GT5 or any racing game is the online aspect of the game. If it weren't for me joining three leagues I would have been done with the game long ago. A and B spec don't hold any interest for me anymore, aside from running the FGT Championship once a week. Racing against real people >>> grinding.

What I don't understand is why they announced the game so early. If PD would've announced the game in Q1 2010, then they would've had the extra 2 years if they needed to.

The game is finished and released and in our hands since November 24th... period! It may not have all of the features that everyone wants, but it is finished and released.

Kaz wanted more time, but was really dragging out development... perfectionist? Sony kicked him in the butt and wouldn't allow for him to miss a third Holiday season release. So the game is done. What is the purpose of this thread again? The game is already out.

the thing is most people (myself included) were expecting a finished product when it was set to be released, in reality there's only 200 cars, the other 800 are from GT4, i'm not sure what took so long, the track modeling/car modeling? it surely wasn't in the sound department, most cars still sounds nothing like their real-life counterparts, especially when tuned..then they all sound like vacuum cleaners once again.

I wouldn't have waited because the game is finished.

I can't vote for that because that isn't exactly true. It's already been stated that there was more that was intended for the game, for one thing. Besides that, it needs more work in various areas to bring it up to par with the rest of its own content as well as on par with other console racing games.

I can't go with those because that would mean waiting even longer than the already-ridiculous wait we've endured for this thing. He shouldn't need more time. Other developers (looking at Turn 10) do more in less time.

Where's the option for "We shouldn't need to wait for what should have already been there by now"?

I would prefer that they release the game, but I wish they would come out with more frequent updates. I just really hope they add a lot of free DLC to finish the game off and make it far more complete and keep people interested.

Waited long enough since GT4. The game is good. But being the 5th, it should be GREAT.

I would've waited. The game feels half realistic, half plastic. WRC cars are there, but championship isn't. NASCAR cars are there, but championship isn't. Racing is there, but rules and flags aren't. Cars are there, but customisation is extremely limited. And there is a bucket load of these kind of things in the game.

So yes, I would wait another year for PD to finish the game.

Sony kicked him in the butt because of people like you... Kaz said he wanted more time to finish it. Since the creator wanted more time to work on the game its not finished; simple as that.

You guys also have to take into account Kaz's personal life and any other things that Kaz might have had to deal with during the development of this game.

Same I mean to be honest I was kinda cool with prologue... They should have added lounges and a few more cars as a patch in gt5p then asked for more time on gt5

Ehh, does anyone even know what PD had in mind by "finished"? Somehow I don't think it meant turning all the standard cars into premiums... graphics (1080p @ 60fps) are probably pushing the PS3 to its limits already.

I would've liked to see a much more balanced career mode with proper restrictions, as well as easy/medium/hard/nightmare difficulty levels with trophies for completing each one. Time attack for all cars in stock mode with leaderboards, along with ranked online races. I'm not sure PD gives a crap about any of this though.

I think it's fine getting updated, kaz is too much of a perfectionist, 2 years would have passed by and he would've wanted another year after that and so on imo. The game needed pushed out, now it needs patched more.

5 years is a long time just too get a game that is 75% complete.

things they should put in the game

1.More Cars!!!!!
2.More tracks (waiting for them to put in spa )
3.Better customization (body kits, more wheels, vinyls, upgradeable brakes.
4.All cars to be premium!!!!!!!!!!

I second this. both parts - not sure but none of the options fit my opinion exactly.

ANd I don't really want to get out of the car.
And I don't care about free roam ... In fact, my bf & I are hesitating getting the newest Burnout, even though we liked the others in the past heaps, because we're just not that into the free roam thing. Who knows, maybe that will change at some point, and in some later GT, I'll like it. But in the context of the OP question, it's just not even something I would think of when thinking about "what could've been more or better in GT5".
