Same here, sort of. The first pic works, the most of the rest wont. It doesn't matter, I suppose. The pics I was able to see are already posted in other threads.

Yes, they're not really new. I just took the direct link from the html source of this page and pasted it in my browser, that worked fine. No really new pics there. Some of them aren't real pics, but concept art (or Progressive scan versions perhaps :D)

EDIT: They're coming in now though ..

 Wow! Those are very nice. I want it now. 👍

Those pics were edited to show how the game would look in motion. I doubt that those are art pics or concepts.

They are artwork, thats why they are cleaner and higher quality than all the proper ingame shots which you can compare for yourself. They wern't edited to show how the game will look in motion though, these have been rendered at a higher quality than the game will run.

Really? To tell you the truth, I dont see a small difference from the pics to the new vids.

The vids are really low resolution and I find it hard to get a good feel for the graphics but thats due to keeping them a reasonable file size the final game will run at about double the resolution of the video's like GT3. Comparing thoes pics to new pics captured from the game it'self I can see a difference, granted it's not massive but they just have all the rough edges removed wheras in the game pics you can still spot them although there are less than in GT3 and GTC.

Though possible, it is highly unlikely that the developers would create a completely seperate engine that runs at a higher quality than the one programmed for the retail version of the game. Production costs and schedules most likely wouldn't allow it. If these pics are undoctored and were released by PD, then they are rendered at the appropriate quality. It's like going from a beta build, creating a build which could stand for the alpha stage for reference, then going back to the beta stage of production. This would just take too much time and money to accomplish.

Good points there.

Who said anything about creating a new engine, tyhey're artwork not ingame, not some seperate verson of GT4. The game is created on PC's anyway, all they do is up the resolution and the level of anti aliasing, not exactley a tough job, I mean oooh it must take the whole of 1 minuet to do something like that on my PC alone.

whatever either way cant wait till chrismas so we can buy the game

The reason I mentioned creating a new engine is because of one simple reason. That being, when a programmer creates an engine, he looks at what's possible in raw code on the platform at hand and incorporates that into the engine itself. So, if the engine is capable of rendering images such as those listed above, it is possible in game. And since the GT4 engine is entirely a gaming engine, all code is buffered in game. If they wanted to render images that the engine is incapable of rendering, they'd have to make a new engine completely. That's mainly the reason why renderings are doctored by a third party software device(in most cases).

The gae is created using development tools, the game isn't created using the game engine, the engine is created with the devlompent tools, using the tools you can change a games resolution in seconds and change the anti aliasing and draw distance ect, it takes minimal effort and minimal time. Just because the development tools can do this doesn't mean all that wil be done in the game because the game isn't made to run on the developers super PC's, it's made for PS2 and so the levels of detail, the resolution and the anti aliasing all have to be set at realistic levels, note that it's all done on the development computers and the development tools nothing else is needed, no second game engines or any expensive development costs. But hell, I can make a screenshot of GT4 look better on my PC using photoshop, I can make the lines clearer, I can clean the colours ect and get rid of all the jaggies and so on, and thats only with photoshop.

live4speed speaks the truth.

They will either be rendered on the PCs/Macs GT4 was developed on with the resolution & AA hiked up with little effort (As can also be seen in the GT1, GT2, GT3 & GT : P intros & many pics + wallpapers) or if they wanted to waste time they could program AA into the GT4 engine on PS2, but turn if off in the final build, just so they can do a few captures @ 15fps ;) But why do that when you can do it on a PC/Mac?

After getting a nice high res pic with AA, they may touch it up further with a paint package. Easy enough & make good PR shots to advertise the game.

so the ps2 cant render gt4 with full AA, at 1200 res? GASP SHOCK HORROR! lol

emm.. and then what's this?

ps2_tool.jpg
ps2_t10k2.jpg

Product Name: PlayStation2 Development Tool DTL-T10000
Price: approximately $19,000

http://www.psxextreme.com/psx2/psx2_091399_3.html

The PS2 hard can't render a single pass image with the quality of a hi-res artwork(hard limitations), and the developments tools running in the serv PC can't render a single PS2 native frame, only can transfer the code to the PS2-Tool(a PS2 with more ram, HDD and extra debug and workstation functions for the programmers) and render through it with his hardware.

I'm tired of explain this..

For obtain game artworks no need to program aditional engine features, usually the devs render individually portions of a big picture with the PS2-Tool using the ingame engine and then transfer to the serv PC for mounting a super big picture with photoshop that reduced create the crispness of an antialiased hi-res artwork.

*sorry for my english.. :O
