I know that there is a very large group of drivers who enjoy endurance racing and pushing the abilities of the human mind. So my question to everyone is what is the most time you've spent driving non-stop during a hot lap session or endurance race? Has anyone managed to complete a 24h run non-stop?

I personally attempted to complete a 24h Le Mans run non stop, but came up short and had to take a break just over 19h into the race. I was too mentally drained to run consistent laps at that point.

I get bored around the 2 hours mark too. Even though, I've managed to complete the 4 Hours of Nürburgring without breaks :D.

Not that long actually, when I think about it. The most I've ever driven for without any rests at all is only about 4-5 hours. I wouldn't consider doing more than that without taking a break. It's not boredom that bothers me as I absolutely adore Endurance Racing, but staring at a screen for that long isn't healthy.

Real life is my limiting factor.
The shorter Enduro events are easy.

the four hour events were good as they just sidestepped real life things.

I ran the 9 hour race over night, Bit zoned out the next day, but some of Bolivia's finest (Coffee!) and that was solved.

The Big 24 jobs were very tough... I ran one in version 0.97 but had a GT5 failure after 6 hours. I think I tended to run 4 hour stints when I did the races after I updated my version to what the rest of the world had.

When you are in the zone though it is very easy to just eat up the miles and forget about time as you trance out. It really hurts when real life spoils these moments of clarity.

One thing I do is break every few laps to note down the lap times as I go and rest my eyes - I also alter the TV settings Brightness and suchlike - to give the impression of a gloomy day or the sun popping out. -

If the race is getting dull I always make it harder on myself... Harder tyres, longer stints than needed - Fake mechanical glitches (3rd gear is out) Altering the Brakes to force me to lap slower (3/2 to say 1/0) or drive with a softer attack (9/6 brakes - I have to nurse the brakes so I don't lock up or wear the tyres out.)

Fun stops when I stop driving, everything else is just waiting.

My eyes and hands get strained If I play for too long. I have a tendency to really squeeze R2 (gas button for me) and so my right hand cramps up. My eyes get dried out a fair amount as well, since I play up in mu attic, not by choice really but because it's the only convenient place for the tv.

Gets horribly hot/cold. Rarely comfortable up there. But I'm starting to liken the idea that it adds to the simulation of being in a cockpit (it's never THAT bad, but it does like to get to like 85f or so during these hot days of summer).

I do have a Lasko fan and even some AC vents, but the fan drys my eyes out and the AC doesn't do well with cooling the whole area (works great in the rest of the house).

If I had more optimum conditions, such as before I had to start gaming in my attic, which was like 3-4 years ago, then I could probably do like 6-7hrs. I would probably feel bad that I spent that much time gaming though. Gotta live a real life too.

I guess the longest I've gone is 3-3.5hrs. Didn't do the Nurburgring 4hr race in one go, but when I the the 24hr race I did a lot of 2hr stints, and so I'm sure I did one or two 3hr+ ones.

Coincidentally, the Directors Cut of Watchmen is 3hrs and some odd minutes, and I've sat through the whole things several times. Movies aren't quite as engaging as GT5, but still, that is pretty much my comfortable limit. For me drive like 5-7hrs would take a lot willpower.

I haven't done any long endurance races, the max I did was the 9hr Nurb race. I did that In one sitting without stopping. When I first got the game however, I played nearly 48 hours, with odd breaks, straight. I took a few days off of work for it (don't judge me :lol).

Yep. I have spent a lot of time on GT5. I have made seven different PSN users, and have done GT Life career seven times 100% legitimately (A-Spec).

When I have done the endurance races, I previously did them on the DFGT, and yes, I drove straight through none stop. I started a timer at the start of the race, and left it running till I finished. My current record is almost exactly 26 hours total. That's counting bathroom breaks, smoke breaks, one break to eat. I have done it with the 787B, 908, and GT-ONE. It was fun, to say the least.

I now have a G27, and I plan to do it again with the Bentley Speed 8. I am hoping to do it in 25 hours or less next time.

Pausing the game to smoke, eat, etc. doesn't count. What part of 'non-stop' didn't you understand?

There's a reason real racing organizations mandate that no one person can drive for more than 4 hours.

Personally, I have trouble even with that, but I'm not a top athlete, just a slob in an armchair.

Also, spot the liars. There's no race that goes for more than 24hrs.

I don't know about it not counting. I wouldn't say that. Going to the bathroom, smoke or whatever, I don't understand why that wouldn't count. Five minutes to eat and have two minutes to smoke a cigar, adds up to the total time.

Just stating that I have the total time it took to finish the race written down. So you saying that I lied, I can't agree with you. I'd you want to get down to brass tax, sure I didn't drive straight through, every driver has to take a break sure, I was just stating the total time (basically pits in all counting every break I took). Also if you want to make the statement "it doesn't count", well anyone who does it by themselves, it wouldn't count either. I could vary well do it without taking any breaks at all sure, but what you want to be that anal about it when you say " it doesn't count" means anyone without four people switching driver seats, it doesn't count either.

Just saying, I highly doubt anyone is that anal to state all of that. So I wouldn't say it didn't count. Plus the fact that I did finish in first place and was ahead by a couple laps so it would be a win even if I stopped on the side of the track, and let the race run while I made a sandwich, had a smoke, or went to the bathroom regardless.

Tell that to your team when you win the GT academy and have to pull over in the middle of the track to take a leak, buddy. I'm sure they'll understand completely!

Again, the question was 'non-stop'.

I think you are missing the point that I am making. No one can technically do the race by themselves from what you are stating. Anyway, just took a look at the memo where I wrote down the the split times, total time driven none stop is a little over 20 hours, so basically five or so more hours wouldn't be difficult do.

You do know that there are pit stops in real life for this type of situation right?

And I wouldn't win the GT Academy, car accident three years ago pretty much ruined any chance of me getting further than the top 16. So basically I am not worried about that.

I once did the 4hr endurance race in one sitting without any break.

Never again. I couldn't feel my legs and I had such a bad headache and backache afterwards.

Nowadays my maximum is 2 hrs without leaving the seat.

Anything more than that is simply not a good idea healthwise.

My longest one at the 'Endurance' Series was the Mazda Laguna Seca 200 Miles. It took me like quarter to 3 hours to finish the 90 Lap race. I still haven't tried the other Endurance races due to my A-spec level and the lack of time.

Somewhere around 6 hours as I was trying to finish up the le mans enduro. Man that really took it's toll afterwards.
