Yes, the Benz motor Carriage has done the 'Ring, the black LMP cars are available to all, courses are found and mapped in the real-world environs, and everybody with a PS2 is suddenly a professional photographer. What crazy man (or woman) can top any of these feats? Well here's something you haven't seen yet:

These are vidcaps obtained by feeding the PS2 video to a digital camcorder, then dumping that to the computer.

When I lost my game data some weeks ago, at a bit over 12%, I decided a different sort of project was needed. I started a new game, turned off auto-save, took the GT3 cash, and went for the gold. I have not entered a single race yet. This is not a cheat. I have EVERY license best-lap replay on the card. I've done the initial oil change on the license prize cars that allow it, but that's it. No other expenditures.

That is really sweet man!

Was the date intentional?

Also, it takes patience to reload the game if you don't get a gold on a licence. Impressive!

i don't get it. so you got gold on all the lisences before doing any races?

"No other expenditures".. you haven't entered any races yet!

Ok. It is cool that you went for the gold first but for licenses and missions you don't need to spend any money so not expending any money so far is just natural.

I too re-started my game and decided to try and NOT buy or mod any cars for as long as I can. Going for bronze ,then silver then gold will assure me a steady supply of cars that may allow me to win as many competitions as possible (not looking for high a-spec races just looking NOT to buy any cars).

I don't get it either. Big deal. A lot of people done this too.

Congrats. 👍
Its been done though, i'm sure. I think by someone on this message board too, but i'm not sure. Good luck with the 100%.

If you think that's unique then you really need to read the 80 Golds Club thread - I think it was Daan's post where he copied his diary in as well as the status screen - showed 80 Gold, 101 days and the diary showed a Gold, first try on all license tests, a day apart!!!!!

now that is some tenacious, incredible stuff (even if he did prolly have to restart a coupla times)

I think that if you keep retrying a test without exiting only one day will pass no matter how many times you retry the test.

Its still cool, no need to make Wfooshee feel 2nd rate... I would like to see someone do the maximum % complete that is possible without buying/modding (or indeed tuning) any cars...

Has this already been worked out?

Keep the oddball thread topics coming!

Not me. I've only got 10 golds....

Well done. 👍

you can turn off auto save..?

Kind of. You can change it so it'll only save when you get into a car. Check around in Options.

far out.. I'm 87% done, not yet got the last 4 or 5 S licences, certainly not a gold in sight, lol..

/envy

I can't even gold the National "B" license. :grumpy:

80 golds, thats something. when i see this i think that people play a different game. i cant even imagine myself with 80 golds.

nice one there. even if someone did it before, it doesnt matter. it i squite a feat to get 80 golds. congrats

yes, you are thinking of the wrong "D"... it was me. I saw that you posted in the diary thread as well, even mentioning my name. Here is the post to which you are referring. I also did ALL 34 missions in succession right after that, and here is my status screen from then. I did not take GT3 lic/cred and I won all 20 of the cars I had and all the money was also won... (yes, that's correct! 8500 A-spec points AND 272,500 credits are won from the Mission Hall alone!)

This is not really a big deal at all. It's great that this guy did it and wants to brag... but bragging rights on something like this are non-existant since so many people have done the same thing. It's cool that he has something to be proud of and everyone else should be proud for him of his accomplishment, it's just not something to brag about.

Now can all those people who keep asking; does Licenses count toward % completion, read this ?

Not the first person to do this sure, but I would brag if I did it. IMO he's allowed even in these hallowed halls. I'll get there as well (80G), but in my own time. I prefer a little more variety.

I think dori-san has left the door open for me to tell him that he kicks ten kinds of butt! (my fav expression today). On the day I am as good at GT4, Satan himself will have won in the winter olympics ice skating event.

Now I'm not trying to steal this guys thunder... just keepin' it real is all.

Anyone think I should update that diary post to where I am now (with a new screenie)?

Nice feedback, I appreciate the comments, including the "who cares" variety. I'm almost "who cares" about it myself. I wasn't very careful to avoid days advancing, i.e. resetting if I didn't get gold, so some tests appear several times in the diary. Resetting to avoid calendar advance never even occured to me! That's not why I turned off autosave, I turned it off because that's what everybody said in the threads about corrupted game saves, which I had happen. (I don't think I'll start over to do it again, though.) I believe it's a day every time you visit a test, no matter how you do on it, and the slalom tests and the Nissan LeMans tests have several visits each. :banghead:
It was never my intent to "brag" or say how much better I am than anybody, because I know I'm not. I just thought I would present a different perspective from what I'd seen elsewhere, and open it up for discussion. Mission accomplished.
As for expenditures, my point was that I bought oil changes, but no wheels, wings, whatever. I do like seeing how few cars I have to buy to get through, using prize cars to run races, but I already know I have to buy a truck for the sports truck series.

Well, my statistics started same, on 10th September I had all golds and all missions, and no done race. According to my diary - up to iA license test 2 I did all in one day. iA2 I did 2nd place on first day and gold on the very next. Same on iA16, S5, S12 and S16 license. There was also 3 retries of mission 12, one at mission 26 and mission 29 and some on next few missions. But overall - on 10th Spetember I had everything and 0 km done in game. I started that way intentionally, as I saw how easy it was 2nd time arround in GT3 with al gold licenses first and races afterwards.

Nice job from all of you with the 80 golds! 👍

Im still struggling to get more than 45...and there are some tests (like the slalom with the Z4 :banghead: ) I seriously doubt to ever get gold at all. And I really suck at all of the coffee breaks... :yuck: but then I also had the following:

Interesting experience: when I first got the game, I just wanted the licenses, so tried to get them in as quickly as possible... now, re-visiting the licenses after 2 months of playing, I got so much better, golding some of them in the first try. It's stating the obvious, but however, it still feels good to see one has made good progress learning the machines, tracks, etc over time. It might not be too late then  . And the achievements from you guys definetly serve as additional motivation to try harder and better!

1.Q: Did you get the 80 Golds with the ''wheel'' or in the 'traditional way''(with thumbs and buttons....)
2.Q:Would you say -WITHOUT taking anything away from your achievements- that getting gold licenses is 'easier' with the wheel? or even harder (those you have experience with both)

Thanks guys!

Insane Gran Turismo Zealot...

I get bored easily trying to get Golds. I got maybe 10 or so and quit.

I've got all 80 Golds and complete all Driving Missions :D (all licenses and missions played in order) before I started any of the racing.

I did it with Driving Force Pro. 👍 I actually got the wheel a couple of months before GT4 came out.

I would say it is EASIER to get gold with the wheel because you have more intermediate degress of motion/control for turning (e.g. gradual turn for easy bends), accelerating (e.g. half-throttle), and braking (e.g. trail-braking). I can play with both the wheel or controller. It's just for me, the wheel certainly has the advantage.

Oh, look, I made a mistake. It was me....

I would have to beg to differ. He has made an incredible accomplishment. The percentage of forum members and quests that have actually been able to achieve all golds on the license test is lower than you would imagine. Just because you did it and many others have done it doesn't mean that it is a common occurance that the majority have or could accomplish.

Good job Walter and well done. 👍
