Two wheels to four for Rossi
As the Italian commits to the Rally of Great Britain [22/07/02 - 11:59]

Valentino Rossi
orld Champion Valentino Rossi will switch from two to four wheels when the season is over to drive in the final FIA World Rally of the season. The Italian will be taking part in the Network Q Rally of Great Britain on November 14-17.

Twenty-three year old Rossi with drive a Peugeot for an Italian- based team in the rally that will be held in Wales, and while he realises it will most probably be cold and wet, as it is almost every Rally of GB, he is not concerned as for once he will inside a car.

"It's sure to be cold and wet but at least I will be inside," said the Championship leader. "All I've got to do now is raise the money."

You would imagine that would be the least of his worries. His team are certain his major worry during the whole rally will not be the rain, snow and Welsh mountain tracks but the fact the Italian has great problems getting up in the morning and could miss the start.

This will be interesing - Rossi has a natural advantage of being insane.

I remember seeing footage of Derek Bell (winner of countless Le Mans events) slithering hopelessly along a mud track - his co-driver was telling him to stay in the tracks made by the previous cars, but it was proving difficult.

Rossi did pretty well in the ROC (race of Champions) so i'd assume he's gonna do good with that Peugeot.

imagine he gets a good run... he wins the MotoGP championship this year, takes a few more years on a bike, and ends up his career in a WRC car!

LOL, well said.

This should be awesome. Seems like a lot of auto racing figures are switching cars lately. I heard that Jeff Gordon was going to try a Williams F1 car, and Montoya was going to drive a NASCAR.

Interesting stuff.
