Hello all I just joined.

I'm at 92% complete, but anyway I pretty much beat all the races by a good margin, but not this elise challage. It took me many attempts to complete series with a gold to finally finish the Pro league.

What am I doing wrong? How does a stock 190 pass me!!!!!!!!!!

I brush the wall in cote, and I'm round over and over.

I hit rumble strips and it sucks me in and spins me out.

I HATE this car!!!!!!!!!!!

I've tryed both 190 and MS elise, I do better with MS.

Any help or comments please.

Sorry if this is a repost. I did a search, but didn't see any complaints.

I did this race 2 days ago no problems. Beat them on every track without having to do it twice. I had my elise modded to the max with a sport gearbox ( 235km/h max). Good luck winning

When I saw the title, this is what I was gonna say.
The Motorsport Elise is awesome.
People just need to realize that buying all the most expensive parts isn't always the best way to go.

DUe to how light the car is, avoidin ghte rumble strips is key. any jaunt across them, will unsettle the car, and scrub serious speed off. The Elise is also a car that rewards smooth turning. Being so light, you need to be gentle with it, or it looses traction quite easily.

One thing to help with the car, is brake earlier. This allows you to get off the brakes and coast for a split second before you turn.

The Competition is not running stock, they have a few additions to keep it interesting. I should probably give this a run, as it's been a while since I last raced it.

An excerpt from my Compendium
I built the Elise 190 up like this. Unfortunate overkill for the first few races, but necessary for the last few.

Racing Suspension, Brakes, Racing I/E, Port Polish, Engine Balancing,Chip,Triple plate Clutch, Lightweight flywheel, Racing tranny, Full LSD,Stage 1 Turbo, Slick Tires (T3) and Lightweight stage 1 and 2. All total, I spent 93,550cr. I’ll make 75,000cr for 5 wins, and 14,632cr for the Elise that I can sell off. So I end up 3,918cr in the hole. I will get cash for the series win and that is where I jump ahead. On with the show.

Cote d’Azur

Settings:
289 hp
Springs: 12/13.3
Ride Height: 66/73 (bottomed out)
Bound: 5/6
Rebound: 7/7
Camber: 3.4/1.8
Toe: 0/0.5
Stabilizers: 3/3
LSD: 10/40/20 (stock)
Autoset Gearing: Level 25
Final Drive: 3.938 (Stock)
ASM = 0; TCS = 0

Results:
Motor Sport Elise: + 18.158
Motor Sport Elise: + 22.132
Elise 190: + 50.560
Elise 190: + 56.761
Elise 190: + 1’09.566

Best lap: 1’43.122
Total time: 17’29.316

Not a very tough race. If you can keep the runs clean and the car off the wall, with minimal wheel spin, you can guarantee a win.

Hope this helps,

AO

 D@mn!!!!! That's what I was afraid of:banghead:

Thanks for the help guys. BTW I have already beatin it, just wanted to know why It was BY FAR the HARDEST, for me at least.:D

It's a difficult little car, and one that doesn't suit a lot of driving styles. Great speed can be acheived with it, but it doesn't like changes of attitide mid-corner, particularly if under power.

BTW Kikkoman, I lived in Hawaii for 19 years and used kikkoman shoyu, but Aloha brand is better!!!!!!!!!!

I actually have that same despenser (in your avatar) in my fridge.

Street Fighter,

ok, so which of the most expensive parts makes the Exige slower?

None of the addon parts make it go slower. They just make the car more difficult to drive.

The Elise is one of the hardest cars in the game to learn to control. Once you can control it, it is very fun to drive though.

i think the hardest races would be the Formula GT Challenge and the Professional Vitz race

yeah the pro vitz race sucks. i am up to it now because i want to get the castrol supra but its so boring and kinda tricky.

Ditto

I remember when I ran the Motor SPort Elise in the Pro cup race, it was my first experience with the vehicle. Running that first left turn on Deep Forest, I would inevitably ride the rumble strip, and spin myself out, leaving nothing but dust & curses. Then, with a little tweaking, and moreso, the experience and knowledge of knowing how to drive the Elise, I found it a fun and no problem to handle. Its a beauty to drive now.

i love driving all the Lotus cars in the game...one of the golden rules for driving the Elise...

stay away from anything thats not tarmac....

the rumble strips will spin you and its much better just to driven them wide...dont even touch them....if it aint tarmac, dont drive it in the Elise

as for the 190s overtaking you...yeah the AI cheats and life's a *****.

its just down to practice, practice, practice.

i just loved the cote d'azur stage in this series.

I love this little car. Like it was mentioned before, you need to drive it with a light touch. I found that reducing the suspension of the car to light settings will improve the ease of use.

They are the AI driven 190's in the challange.

I thought they were stock, but they probably are not due to the speeds they reach.

I guess I was so used to blowing away the AI with a modded car I got pissed when the Lotus didn't do the same.

I have since moved on................

we dont really know what setups the Ai uses but there s no way that it always uses stock settings...

It seems to me that the AI slightly adapts to the car the player is using.
Try to do the same race several times driving different cars against the same opponents, you'll see that their time is not twice the same.
They drive faster when you have a fast car and slower when you have a slow one.
(Of course if your car is really slow they won't be slower than you and you'll be 6th)

No, the AI cars are rarely stock, this is proven by using MK's program which lets you see whats inside a car from importing a replay file onto a pc via gameshark. I don't have all this so it's just what I've picked up from my time here at gtp. During races cars will get power boosts or amplifiers which is aimed at keeping the races close, it doesn't work well imo but thats how it PD have done it, so if your going faster, they will get a power jike to alow them to catch up, it's not a big hike though and most of the time, it's not enough for them to catch you.

I haven't had any problems with the MS. The only problem is its lack of top speed, But that only matters on the more open tracks.

Actually, I hated this car in GT2, but it's a pleasure to drive in GT3. You have to be gentle with it, but it drives like it's floating. I turned the shock bound/rebound settings to 3 and 4 all the way around, as I recall.

It eats tires, though.

if your racing a tight course like monaco, you can actually use the adverse effects of the rumble strip to your advantage...

if you take a very tight corner, greater that 90 degrees, if you slow down and take the racing line and slightly clip the rumble strip at the apex of the turn, it will act like a brief handbrake turn throwing your car round to face the exit with very little loss of speed...foot on the gas and your away...

this works great with the Elise but takes practice....try it, just the slightest of touches is all it takes....hit the strip too heavily and you'll lose it...

It does not eat tyres if you learn how to rotate the car with out sliding the rear around the front. You can initiate turns this way, its natural for short wheel base, MR cars to do such, but quickly catch the rotation with counter steer and reverse your turn and drive around the turn. I do this entire series with normal tyres, max weight reduction and a adj tranny. Buy the way, same for the Cilo's. I can even woop up on the GT40'2 in the pro MR series with out ever modding the suspension, dif, or brake ballance controller. Not much top end speed but you can certainly make up for it in the corners. Also, I think I read earlier in this thread that people are of the oppinion the burms are bad for the Elise. I find quite the contrary to be true. I use the "rumble strips", especially at the apex to turn the car. You need much less turn to get around if you play the throttle and wheel together and "ride the burm. This I found SAVES tyres. Try practicing on the skid pad (circles) in the licence test with the RX7's and you will also smoke a gold by SECONDS!

unless your profile is outdated, you lived in Hawaii for 19 years, and now you're in Michigan?

you have my condolences.

hahahaha j/k.

the elise does not suck. not even close to sucking. you should be happy that the elise is actually available to you south of the border. stuck in Canada, I don't have such an option.

Yeah, the Elise 180 (or is it 190?) is a great car. So, with that in mind, I imagine that the Motor Sport is good if not better. I'm gonna have to finish up this stupid championship that I'm in now, and I'll do that today, and maybe I won't have to go under 6 million to buy it! (I'm a crazy rich person in this game!)

The MS Elise is much better than the 190.

agreed.

is it only in the US bound GT3's that the Exige is called an MS Elise in the game.

have any of you UK/European fellas driven an Elise or Exige (in real life)? we don't get such fabulous cars in Canada, and the Elise and Exige are easily one of my fav cars. those, plus the Noble M12 :)

It's called the MS Elise in the PAL version as well, the MS Elise is a different car to the Exige, the MS is a car that takes part in a one make Lotus cup, the Exige is a road car based on that that looks the same only it has a removable roof, the MS doesn't. I haven't been in one, let alone driven one, but someone who lives near me owns an old shape Exige in black.
