Im sorry but where is the Ferrari 458? Why was it not included. The 458 is in many other reviewers(and clarkson) eyes the best car in the world right now.
Reading the text before asking this question could be helpful here.

Did it win last time?
I just checked. It did. The earth can continue rotating. I wish they had brought for 2012 it back as the defending champ since they brought the GTR back. Probably thought it would be unfair to the rest of the competition. ;)

Maybe you should read the article...

We invited last year's winning Ferrari 458 Italia to come and defend its crown, but Ferrari declined. It also declined to give us the 458 Spyder, the reworked California, and the FF.

BRZ did surprisingly well considering the power and price difference!  Little car that almost could indeed, David amongst Goliaths.

I was impressed by the Mercedes. I would say its been on the tip of my tongue for a while, a synonym for AMG. They got it right. Weapons and Explosives factory. Those AMG engines... Synchronized Fuel Detonation.

Read the article - some interesting verdicts there. The Aventador performing this bad and the AMG taking second place were both really suprising to me. Seeing the Porsche taking first and the BRZ doing well weren't so unexpected, though.

I'll have to agree with some of the points that were bought up in the article about the BRZ: It's just damn near impossible to even compare it to those other cars. Both in terms of price and performance. I mean, getting such a great experience from a sub-$30,000 is incredible, but I fell that the statement "making an underpowered car handle well is easier" is true, to a certain degree at least.

It's just a bit of a shame that Ferrari didn't want to give a 458 to MT for this year's test. Afraid of the 'bug', are we? :sly:

Drag race tomorrow :)

yeah but not as excited as last year as the winning times are already in the article

Just like i expected.

yeah me too although i thought it was possible the GTR might edge the mclaren in the 1/4 as even though it traps a lot higher the 2012/2013 GTRs can run in the 10.8-10.9 range and ive seen mclarens be 10.9-11.2 but i guess its what the car ran on that day

but yeah over all not surprised.. i even think i saw one test get a 10.6 out of the aventador

Damn I thought the Aventador would of been quicker. And wow the McLaren is a beast, never seen one run that quick. GTR can be faster, driver mod? Sweet double digit trap speed by the BRZ lol.

someone just informed me that these times they listed were not from the actual head to head video from tomorrow but times they tested earlier

with that said

lambo
mclaren
gtr

were 1 2 3

991 is still Beetle Evolution with running shoes. :p It's one of the things they cannot change, and I cannot understand why Porsche should be ashamed of being related to a cult car such as Beetle.

This makes me happy as a Lambo. nut. :D
I'm not expecting it to be the best driver's car though. I'm guessing the 911 will take it.

Edit* After watching the drag video, I had no idea the MP4-12C was that fast in the QTR mile. The GT-R didn't seem as fast as I thought it was going to be.

Some weird camera angles though; a couple shots the Aventador is just pulling away from the GT-R & another, the GT500 isn't far behind it.

The less relation to a VW Bug when compared to a fast sports car the better, just my opinion. That's one reason I've never liked Porsche, but with the longer wheelbase they are growing on me.

I sorta expected the Mc and Lambo to beat the GTR based on all the individual performance testing. The trap speed for the GTR is much better than before too.

If the Mc had the 30-ish HP power upgrade, could it edge the Lambo?

Testing will reveal the answer, but we won't get the spectacle of a many-car drag race...

Also, the Jag seems to have traction issues everywhere though it makes up in trap speed.

My notes from the video:

- GT-R still kept up quite nicely and for what? 1/3 the cost of the other two?

- GT500 walked away from the ZL-1 Camaro. :D

- LOL at the BRZ at the end with the donuts at the finish.

Jason, I could make a car 1/3 of the GT-R's price be competative as well.
You don't pay for a 1/4 mile time... only.. Right? ;)

Hands up everyone who would take the BRZ or 991 over the rest of this lineup? *raises hand*
