No camaro or corvette :(

I know, I was hoping for the C7 and Z28. They explain why no Vette in the video. I think the C7 had a very good chance because it handles well, is refined and has a completely upgraded new interior design (the biggest complaint in the past was interior. The C6 Z06 still holds the fastest lap around Laguna Seca for the competition, beating the 458 Italia, Aventador and McLaren 12c to name a few, but they hated the seats and got eliminated early in the competition).

I also wanted to see how accurate the C7 laptimes were that were posted on VIR (I think?) It showed it beating some pretty fast cars but used a factory driver vs other cars having a driver from the magazine.

THATs BS. the C7 is a really awesome car T_T. the new Z28 is just as a sight for sore eyes @_@.

If you watch the video, they explain in detail why the C7 is not there. I don't know why you're complaining, there's a perfectly good reason for it. I would have loved to see it in the competition, but it wasn't ready to be tested yet.

Bad selection in my opinion.

Aston Martin Vanquish (big and heavy), Audi R8 V10 Plus (reasonable pick), Bentley Continental GT Speed (nope, just nope), BMW M6 (rather see an M3), Ford Focus ST (rather see a BRZ but in my opinion both should be on the list), Jaguar F-Type V8 S (reasonable), Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 wagon (very cool but not sure the driving dynamics would be sufficient for BDC), Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series (reasonable), Nissan GT-R Track Edition (reasonable), Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (reasonable), Porsche Cayman S (isn't there a Cayman R?), and SRT Viper (reasonable).

I assume some of my picks would be outdated, not sure if the M3 is still in production, etc etc.

However, it feels like the list was a bit forced and not quite up to the par of previous lists.

This is for current model year. There isn't a Cayman R. I agree with your assessment, but they also tried out the Toyobaru last year, I believe.

There is no way that they can accurately judge this, for one good reason. We are all different. Sounds like a cop-out, but I always find myself getting irritated by the comments stating that it doesn't handle as well as another car, and that they try to use numbers for this. This is one thing no amount of math can determine, because the only thing that makes a car a drivers car is how much fun you can have in it, and I guarantee you that the "fun scale" is about as solid as melted jello.

looking forward to it. GTR should handle the competition in the drag race part 3. the SLS black should be close though

I got it 2nd at leguna only behind the Viper. when both cars were tested the Viper was around 6 tenths a second faster around leguna than the 12/13 GTR. not sure if the 14 track pack can make that up but we will find out.

I'd say you're oversimplifying things if you say you can't measure fun. Small example, in a poll of 10,000 people, how many do you think will say that a visit to the dentist is more fun that a vacation?

There are trends and correlations that work for the general population and we can use them to build objective measures for things that seem "squishy".

There very most likely is a formula for fun, but it's not something we can derive yet.

That said, MT is no where close to finding the equation when the Aventador ranks last place on their list.

They're determining the "best driver's car." Tha doesn't always mean the most fun, but a combination of best handling, most fun, and easiest to drive fast.

nope, just no.

Fun is subjective so who is to say they shouldn't include SUVs, let people lean wildly in turns and scream their heads off as they have the drive of their life.

Handling is measurable by numbers yet subject to opinion.

Easiest to drive fast is like asking which car can handle 185mph with no hands on the wheel.

Fact is, BDC is a lame excuse for who gave the most money and attention to C&D or MT that year.

I hate to say that but it's what we've come to... many cars that should be on the list of contenders are not there and a few who shouldn't be are.

Best Drivers Car. But, for what type of driver? Race car driver? Cruiser? Sunday driver? BDC is just a bad title for saying, "Best New Car To Drive Out Of This Lot". Anyway, my vote is the E63(yes, I'm biased).

They have done this competition before so if you are confused on the criteria just go back and watch/read the 2011 or 2012 competition.

Nope, clearly Porsche & Ferrari have been just been bribing MT the past few years & definitely weren't possible contenders for driver's cars according to this.

Remember, this is a fact even though this is the same person who says the Vanquish is too big & heavy, yet finds the E63 AMG Wagon a cool selection for the competition.

I appreciate the thread updates Organ Donor. I sub to MT on YouTube but this is in some ways more convenient.
Man Randy can drive! This year looks like some really tight competition. It's unfortunate that there is only one car under 80k.
Anyway I'm curious to see how you guys will place each car. Here are my picks:
1. The 911 takes it again
2. SLS -too heavy and hard to drive
3. Cayman- Because Porche can't 1-2 right?
4. R8- The new tranny bring it up a few spots.
5. F type- Although I feel like the V6 S would have been a better BDC choice.
6. GTR- this is the car I'm not to sure about. I feel like it should be higher.
7. Viper- The noise, unrefinement and the fact that it's a scary car to drive keeps it down on my list.
8. Vanquish
9. M6
10. Bentley
11. ST
12. E63

For some reason the Bentley, C4S, and SLS Black videos aren't working for me. I can only watch the first 2 seconds, and then it stops. Am I the only one with this problem?

I think top 3 will be the SLS Black Series, R8 Plus, and Porsche 911. Not necessarily that order. Jaguar F type or GTR as the wild card.

I just tried, they work for me.

GTR
911
SLS
Cayman
R8
F type
Viper
M6
Vanquish
E63
ST
Bentley

That's my guess on the order. 👍
