I believe "Race of Champions" format it may just work, but you'd be commiting a whole stadium for the duration. In terms of physical prowess, top drivers are more than eligible to be classed as athletes, but the issue would be attracting top drivers when most will have other commitments at this time of year. It'll probably be a bigger audience draw than women's football. What do you think?

Can you imagine Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson vs Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton?
 
NASCAR vs F1 drivers on a course like silverstone is like putting a bunny against tigers. They wouldn't stand a chance. Probably the other way around on ovals.

Edit:
Except maybe montoya since he also has F1 experience.

But the formats aren't in the slightest comparable.
