So, how are people managing with the extra rules? I just finished the first set of bosses on the C1 and have unlocked the rest of the map, and I'm finding that my humble little AE86 overheats rather quickly, usually after 3-4 battles or so.
I can get about 4-5 battles out of my NSX before the water temp starts to overheat, but that's also requiring me to lift and coast in 5th or 6th to not heat up even quicker between rivals.
Also, is there other battle music? As much as I like the remix of TXR0s soundtrack, it's a little grating hearing it over and over.
Someone made a mod on Nexus that adds another song, but unfortunately, what we have is what we get. Now that you mention it, it is a bit surprising 1.0 didn't add anymore remixes of older songs.

Dealing with temps is as simple as shifting earlier, and coasting. It also depends on the car, ones whose power peaks further away from the rev limit will have an easier time keeping cool since you don't have to rev them out so high.

There is new battle music in the 2nd half of the story.

I do not take kindly to being ambushed. Hide in shame, weeb.

Edit: okay Youtube, why did you set the video as private and not unlisted, I mean I know why but still

Yeah, I'm wondering how long I'll keep using extra rules, I've gone all in with Hondas for now and obviously they overheat quickly because you have to rev them all the way out to make power. A few times last night I found I'd only get one shot at a particularly long race and if I lost I'd have to wait a long time to have another go which isn't very fun, honestly. Beating team leaders or consecutive races is also really difficult sometimes.

But more importantly, I haven't been lacking credits at all so the bonus doesn't feel worth the inconvenience, I'm limited more by BP. I guess that'll change when I've unlocked more tuning parts and I'm buying more expensive cars but yesterday I unlocked, bought and fully tuned (as far as I can right now) the DC2, DC5 and S2000 in one trip back to the garage and had 8 million credits left over.

I know it's not a big deal really, but one slight criticism I have is:why don't the bosses challenge you anymore? they did it that way in all 3 previous games, why change it?

So, I unlocked a new "manufacturer" after beating Loyal Butler. I won't share what it is to avoid spoiling, but I wonder if it's the only one.

Additionally, for those who make it to the end game, Record:0.

According to the TXR subreddit, there's at least a couple "Demokit Cars" that are unlocked by beating certain wanderers. One of which is an NA1 NSX with a custom widebody kit, and there's also a Mk4 Supra that also has a custom widebody. Apparently the cars can get performance upgrades, custom wheels and an aura, but the liveries are locked.

Bought an EK9 for the next step, but happy to hoover up more small fry with my Swift and put the money into the Civic.

Not sure how i feel about this game. Not as fun as i was expecting, i finded carx street more fun, maybe just have those 1-1 rivals short battles is not for me,
Feelt like there is much more varity with carx streets clubs.

Physics is not great either, i know its an arcade racer, but the handling dosent feel good, witch take away some of the fun for me, carx street feels a lot better in the handling in camparsion,

Not saying this is a bad game, just feel like its not for me at all.
I have not done much progress yet with carx street so i most likely will return to that instead.

Out of all the racing game goodness this week I didn’t expect this game to be the one that captured my attention, but it has. :)

It’s starting to get interesting now, the racing has become more challenging after completing the second chapter, the S2000 now feels like it’s lacking a little performance rather then being a bit op, time to get the next round of upgrades unlocked!

What? That's just stupid. In previous games as you said, you can re-challenge the boss cars anytime you like. How come in this one you can't? That's no fun.

Anyway, I'm very pleased that it's finally coming to consoles, but no Xbox? They're gonna be left out, but hey, at least it's coming for the PS5. Gotta start saving up to get one....

I think he meant the other way around: the bosses initiating the race against you, instead of you challenging them.

You 100% can re-challenge bosses, as I've seen Bloodhound pop up on the C1 twice now after beating him. I Haven't checked to see if you can re-challenge rivals via the Reference tab, though.

To be fair, outside of Import Tuner Challenge and the first 2 games on the Dreamcast, TXR for the most part has always been a Playstation franchise, so there's a good bit of precedent. TXR '25 will also probably have a greater overall ROI (especially in Japan) for Genki than developing it for both consoles.

As an Xbox owner, I would love it if this game came to the Series X, but I won't be upset if it doesn't. It's perfectly playable on my laptop (albeit at low graphics), so I'm personally satisfied.

Story mode completed, once the "Insta Kill" skill combo was discovered, most battles ended rather quickly.

Didn't use many cars, AE86 starter until I figured out how to get in an EK9, then a DC5, then an S2000 and finally an FL5 (my car IRL). I did buy and upgrade a DC2 and an NSX but never really used them. Seems to be a theme here...

Now I need to deal with the Wanderers, so will have to expand my car collection some to meet certain conditions.

Still an enjoyable game, especially for the discounted early access price that I payed!

Do share (in spoiler tags preferably) please. :)
"Insta Kill"

Center of Attention + Pioneers Secret are the core, I use Burning Spirit to maximise damage, but you could use Aura of Dignity to attack sooner. Of course you should load Attack Power enhancement up as well. I wouldn't have spent BP else where if I had know about this from the start.

Technique is simple, boost past at the start of a battle and keep on going, once you reach the required distance to attack the other car dies. So in car tuning power adders are key along with Nitro.

This gave me the title of Insta Kill Ninja ;)

Thanks! I'm not even able to add the third tech skill yet and it's already pretty OP. :D I'll probably use some other perks and only use this for particular nasty rivals/bosses.

@graveltrap I just found this combination myself, I had been using the skill to replenish your health as theirs depletes instead of Pioneer's Secret (mainly because it meant I could just go as fast as possible and it didn't matter if I hit walls as long as I was damaging them, you can't die as long as their health is going down) but decided to give it a shot and wow, you really aren't kidding when you say it's insta-kill.

I just unlocked the R35 GT-R and all the tuning parts (except lv3 nitro and lv8 engine) and it's insane. Going straight from a 350ps NSX-R to a 998ps GT-R is jarring to say the least. Combine that with the insta-kill skill set and, well, you know that quote "sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"? This is indistinguishable from cheating! Still, really glad to have found it for my second encounter with
Rumoured Writer because her own cheat is really annoying.

This game is everything I'd ever have wanted from a TXR reboot

Started with the Trueno, but just got to Stage 2 and bought an S14 - there's definitely a difficulty spike when you get to Stage 2, good fun though

Looking forward to unlocking more cars, probably going to spend most of my time BP farming now

Me in early game: BAH! 500 BP is more than enough!
Me in late game: Gets upgrade to hold 1500 BP
Me 5 minutes later: back at 5 BP

Similar experience for Credits.
