Mount Panorama NOT 100% accurate!

When I drove my first lap around Mount Panorama back when GT6 was released I was more than excited to finally be able to tackle the beast within GT. That excitement grew as Brock's Skyline came into view. I was preparing to take the same racing line I had seen so many Bathurst 1000 winners take while watching the race from the mid 70's to this day.

As I tucked into Forest Elbow, I couldn't help thinking how amazing it was that I been sitting at the elbow watching skateboarders clock 110 kph a few years earlier. The V8's average 90 kph around the elbow.

When exiting the elbow I took the wide line that I had been waiting for. The line that I saw and still see so many drivers take. A line that sometimes leaves paint on the barrier and a few dings in side panels and doors. I planted my foot on the loud pedal and prepared for the scrape, but it was a near miss and I felt my heart race, for only a moment. :(

To my dismay there was a protruding stack of tyres waiting for me at the end of the barrier. BOOM! I hit the tyre stack and was sent into a dizzying spin. What? How the hell did that happen? Since when is there a tyre stack there? Who's brilliant idea was it to put that there?

PD! Please address this issue by removing that tyre stack in an update asap!

I couldn't find a decent image link that compares the barrier in Real Life V GT6, so here's a youtube clip that shows the line some drivers take.

The idea is that if the barrier was a mirror, you should be able to get close enough to fog it with a breath. Kind of like NASCAR drivers and the way they go for a close shave now and then I guess. Hitting the wall or even a slight scrape has always slowed the car in the whole GT series from memory, or am I driving wrong in the game and should be cheating my lap times. :P

Wow, you must have a lot of time on your hands to write such a big complaint about just 5 tyres. Might need to get out and enjoy life a bit. (and change your user name)

That stack of tires does annoy me as well, but you don't have to be a dick about it. (And maybe do something about your avatar, its all blurry and pixelated.)

I'm just curious as to how I was being a dick about it? In my original post I was just trying to relay the excitement and slight disappointment after waiting since GT1 for Mount Panorama to be a playable track in GT. I'm sure that a lot of Australian GT players would feel the same to a degree.

It's not you, those tires irritate me as well. I'm talking about @XPOWER180.

I actually thinks thats why the hidden tire stack is at that track, to work out your frustrations. :dopey:

He wasn't calling you a dick.

That's because his username can cause offence to people and is deemed racist. I hardly think my avatar causes such an issue.

@XPOWER180 You can't simply change it, you have to be a Premium member to do so. I did, now I have an awesome name. I only said anything about your avatar because its blurry and pixelated.

@Spiderman_Geek If you go just a little bit wide, you smack the tires. I have never seen a game or any real laps of the track that had them.

I couldn't care less if my avatar is not quite perfect. As long as its not racist or offensive then it stays as is. Any other petty issues you have I suggest you message me and we will have a little chat about it.

People need to relax, gee.

This is my keyboard. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My keyboard is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My keyboard, without me, is useless. Without my keyboard, I am useless. I must type my keyboard true. I must flame harder than my enemy who is trying to flame me. I must troll him before he trolls me.

I do apologise if my profile name is offensive to some people, and I never intended it to be so. In my childhood innocence there was a chocolate biscuit by that name, which was my favourite. I didn't think people would be offended by it, but as stated by Azure Flare, I can't change it. Perhaps I should delete this account and start fresh.

Back to the original topic for a moment.

It would seam that I was incorrect about the tyres to a degree. Although I grew up watching races like the one in the clip to follow, I only remember the barrier from the last 10 or 20 years. The barrier in the 70's was curved and ended with tyres that line up with the base of the barrier. You can see in the clip that everything lines up off the racing line.

From memory, the curved barrier was replaced with the flat barrier because cars were riding up the curved transition and flipping.

Perhaps I'm being too much of a purest, but the tyres are protruding into the real racing line. I guess you guys would be upset if PD put a speed bump in your country's favourite track.

I swear I saw them at The Reject Shop or similar like a year or two ago.
Then again, my sense of time is a bit 🤬 hahah

Here's an idea, keep the car within the confines of the asphalt and you won't have a problem.

The barriers are on the asphalt!

And don't bother writing "Stay within the white track width lines", because then I would have to tell you not to use the ripple strip on corner apex's. :P

I agree with OP: there's nothing wrong with wanting your home country's track to be just right.

I thought those tires very odd having never seen the track in real life. In fact when I was looking for the Hidden Gem Trophy I was convinced that those were the secret Blue Anniversary tires that you were supposed to hit to trigger the trophy.

I would guess that they deliberately put those tyres there to stop people from gaining lap time by hitting the wall on the way round the corner.

Putting immovable tires in the way that cause mayhem and huge pile-ups if the first car in line hits it (this has already happened in races i've been in) is not the answer.

Adjusting the wall physics so that wall-riding does not provide an advantage, as IRL is the answer and is just another example of poor development and design choices by PD.

This isn't the first time this has happened - it happened to me upon driving too close to the pit lane wall at Grand Valley. Same tire lump at the end of the wall, same results. And that's a fictional track created by PD as well.

No need. Send a PM to Jordan or another moderator and they can change it. Yes, I agree with XPOWER, you're username is a derogatory term all over the world.

On topic: I agree with you, those tyres should not be there. You would still have 2 wheels on the track if they weren't there and like you say, they aren't there IRL.

Would PD put a bunch of tyres at the 'Wall Of Champions' on the Canada F1 circuit?
