A triple post showing onboards that just repeat what you said in the OP. It's 5 tyres, I just drive past them and think no more of it.

Yeap, reinforcing my statements as to why the tyres should be removed by showing real racing line examples. The clips are also something for people who want to improve their Mount Panorama lap times to watch and learn from.

Even better is a guided lap with gear selection, breaking, and lift tips.

The point is, it's a major inconvenience having them there, and they shouldn't be there in the first place.

Even if you can avoid them, what if you're on the bumper of the guy in front of you and he hits them, stopping dead leaving you no time to react. Or even worse, you're side by side with someone on the outside and they push you out to the tires forcing you to hit them.

It's a cheap trick to stop people from wall riding from PD, and they need to be removed.

This tyre stack would surely pose a dangerous hazard. A driver only needs to clip it slightly to spin out and potentially smack into others around. In real life no track engineer would allow such a hazard to remain. And if they did, teams would probably take issue. The forest elbow and the stretch before it is a dangerous part of the track as it is and many spectacular pileups have happened there in the past. Organisers are working to improve safety every year and it would be inconceivable that they would leave such an obvious hazard in place. If GT series is a realistic simulation then I think track design should also follow safety regulations at least in spirit. I would strongly argue that this tyre stack may be against these safety regs. I didn't even notice that the corner distance indicators were missing and this is probably against regs too.

Actually they modelled the track when it was open for hill climbs, so if you drive that section in reverse you will see these and other tyre barriers for that purpose. It also explains why the corner distances are missing.

This would indeed appear to be the case, as evidenced by this video:

You can clearly see a big ol' tyre barrier at the same place as the one in GT6 at 3:18.

EDIT: More evidence! The hillclimb at the Esses was held on the 3rd of March in 2012. PD were spotted scanning the track the very next week.

ppl making the argument that PD put the tyres there to prevent "wall riding" doesn't hold up. A fast clean racing line will always be quicker. Having said that the tyres have no effect on my experience of the track and i simply don't care.

Actually it is, as has been proven in the past.

dbarrade's explanation makes sense though. And if that is the case, why the 🤬 is PD too freaking lazy to adjust those things. It's like having the wrong bus stop chicane at Daytona Road with NO braking markers going into it. It drives me insane!

well no I disagree. if that was the case I would be able to wall ride around nascar events to win (don't normally cheat but nascar made me try) . most corners especially on Bathurst are to sharp to hug to and you will come to a stop before being shot around. sticking to apex's and braking effectively with just the right amount of lift and turn will be faster.

Ultimately if you drive into the tyres, it's a driver error. They are well down the road from the exit of the turn. Unless you make an error, you need not drive anywhere near them other than to take a wide entry into the next kink in the road which is insignificant.

Do what the sign says and keep left.

When I drove my first lap around Mount Panorama back when GT6 was released I was more than excited to finally be able to tackle the beast within GT. That excitement grew as Brock's Skyline came into view. I was preparing to take the same racing line I had seen so many Bathurst 1000 winners take while watching the race from the mid 70's to this day.

As I tucked into Forest Elbow, I couldn't help thinking how amazing it was that I been sitting at the elbow watching skateboarders clock 110 kph a few years earlier. The V8's average 90 kph around the elbow.

When exiting the elbow I took the wide line that I had been waiting for. The line that I saw and still see so many drivers take. A line that sometimes leaves paint on the barrier and a few dings in side panels and doors. I planted my foot on the loud pedal and prepared for the scrape, but it was a near miss and I felt my heart race, for only a moment. :(

To my dismay there was a protruding stack of tyres waiting for me at the end of the barrier. BOOM! I hit the tyre stack and was sent into a dizzying spin. What? How the hell did that happen? Since when is there a tyre stack there? Who's brilliant idea was it to put that there?

PD! Please address this issue by removing that tyre stack in an update asap!

I couldn't find a decent image link that compares the barrier in Real Life V GT6, so here's a youtube clip that shows the line some drivers take.

I did exactly what you did and have no knowledge of the track... I hit so hard I had placebo whiplash... I sat there for a second thinking "wtf?! That would never be on a real track... People would die..." While staring at that little blue lip...

I get the keeping people from abusing wall riding but there are much better solutions like doubling the abrasives of the wall... But don't kill the driver!

Yea of course you can alter the line you take to miss the tires but the point stands they shouldn't be there, if PD's aim was to insure track integrity then he committed a huge mistake with the rest of the tracks in the game. The other game has grass that acts like quicksand and this game lets you hydroplane across certain sections like you were shot out of a cannon.

O.M.G !!!!!

cant believe you are all whinging about a silly tyre stack that is easy to miss.

"" oh no, woe is me! the game is not an exact carbon-copy of reality. what am i to do? shall i open an artery because life's not worth living anymore? ""

bejezuz people, there are sooo many other Real Problems with this game that Need addressing, that chucking a sooky-la-la hissy-fit about this lame crap is, well ... pathetic.

That's because his username can cause offence to people and is deemed racist. I hardly think my avatar causes such an issue.

lolz! You think.

personally i think your avatar (pic) has more than a little "Blue Oyster Bar" going on.

refer to the old adage: "thats the pot calling the kettle black"

ps xpower, i also said 'Black' and 'Pot'. i certainly hope you dont take them out of context like you did with the other post. ;)

I had my run in with those tires twice. In both cases I was trying to win the Bathurst race for my first license test.
When I hit them the first time, I was taken totally by surprise. I was trying to catch up and there was one lap remaining.🤬 When I hit them, I was thrown across the track and ended up facing backward.

Because I was trying for all Gold, I had to go back to the first race in the series of five races and start all over again.
:banghead:

This happened twice. I have since modified my approach into and out of that corner. No more problems.
But yes, the tires should scatter if someone hits them. Just know it wont be me anymore LOL:lol:

I think that thy're upset because it interferes with the use of wall riding for semi automated cash grinds. I recall a while during GT5 when some folks were pushing the "rubber band your controller to riches" game play paradigm. Some like it, some don't. PD was clearly in the latter group, since they implemented features to hamper the rubber-band grind. No big deal. You can still make plenty of game cash with a bit of effort. Personally I'm not concerned. And afaik they added microtransactions specifically to address those players who feel the need to own every car from day 1. Plunk down the money instead of working for them, and you too can own every car... for a price.

I love the track. Hope the shadows, performance was doing this great track justice. Otherwise as posted by others they did a great job as always with track modelling
