I am going to move to Italy!! My last Day of work will here in the UK will be the 30th of April. Will be moving to a small town just outside Bergamo called Cologno Al Serio. My G'friend and her father will be driving the MPV with our stuff and I will be riding my Motorbike all the way there and riding through the Alps which will be fantastic!! First we stop off in Gent (Belgium) to see a good friend then off we go!!

Things have been tough in the UK for us since the financial downturn, I had lost 2 jobs and am currently earning less then I use too. My girlfriend has been studying and working strange hours, and with my current job also I work till 2am and we never really get to see each other. As we live in London we are renting a room with a friend to enable us to save money, the whole situation is not good for a young couple not to mention the cost of living here!! We have a place in Italy, so while over there my g'friend will work in Italy, while I take the time to study. I will be teaching myself HTML/PHP/MYSQL while also building on some business ideas that I have. After 6 months or so in Italy we will be doing some travelling across South East Asia:)

This is a great opportunity for me to actually learn something. Many people that have children and full time jobs as well as mortgages manage to study and learn but many can't so I am very lucky to have a place to stay rent free where I can knuckle down and put my mind to something.

Wish me luck:)

I like that Idea. Good luck! Italy is very nice this time of year, and the Alps... On a motorbike? that's amazing! Photos or it didn't happen! lol

Thanks guys, for sure I will take some pictures. I am a little nervous as I will be on my own through the Alps as I won't be waiting up for the car! hehe. I just love mountains, the closest I have ridden though to the Alps would have been from Stavanger (Norway) to Stockholm in Sweden. The mountains were fantasic.

congrats ! and welcome to italy !
you will see : the alps from a motorbike are wonderful, and bergamo is a perfect spot to enjoy week-end rides :)
you'll be fine riding there, just remember to be mindful of asphalt conditions, and keep a safe line when cornering narrow roads, otherwise it's great fun ;)

Thats what I call turning a negative into a positive. Isn't life full of surprises? The best moments in life are usually the hardest times because when you do get over them which I'm sure you will. It is usually the moments that you enjoyed the most. The most simplest things in your lifes journeys are the best. Good Lucky, have a safe road trip and most of all enjoy the experience.

congratilations. what about work in Italy?

I will be working everyday teaching myself various web languages. My Girlfriend will work and we also we have savings. If I can find some part time work then for sure I will do it but it is not important.

Thanks everyone for all of your well wishes!

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. 4,5 years ago I moved from Belgium to Norway. The first months are quite scary, but once you know how it all goes on there and you start to get a hang of the language, you'll have an awesome time! In Belgium I was doing bad at school and things weren't looking good for my future. I now study structural engineering, and I've never been so happy in my life before!

Enjoy it!
