Hi to all, my first post on this board :)

I have looked for the definative answer to this but found nothing, is there any option to switch between the two in the game? I know there may be a difference between our version (europe, im in the UK) and the final Japanese version but i doubt it?

I know the american version gets MPH so why cant they just put an option in there, so much easier?

I really would like to see the cars can go through the 200MPH barrier as apposed to 320 KMH, just a personal prefence :)

Cheers

Anyone got an answer on this yet? (Japanese version of course)

link didnt work for me but I would really like there to be a MPH option, or just MPH only (im in uk too), KMH means nothing to me :(, well I know it's *5/8 but you know what I mean ;)
:)

Miles or Kms were both selectable in the GT4 first preview demo. Hence, I would suggest that there is a fair chance that Canadians and Britons will be quite content come the arrival of GT4.

There will be a good chance then, if it's included in the demo version (maybe that's where the pics came from), however, on the other hand, I wouldn't mind if it's permanently fixed on Km/h only or Mp/h only.

About the link, it's not working when you click on it, so, just copy the whole address, and paste it on a new browser to view the picture.

I dragged the demo out in order to take the pic below.

Incidentally, the in game image linked by Norfolk is not from the demo, as Costa Almafi is not available on the first preview disc. It could however be an image from the North American version.

:eek: Thank you PD, finally! I won't have to keep my calculator handy when I want to know my exact top speed! :D
Thank you Samberto for showing this! :D

This screen is NOT - I repeat - NOT from GT4! Like Samberto said, it's from the japanese GT4 demo, so don't bet on being able to change between meter and mile in our GT4 just yet. I actually am kind of expecting that it will be there, but then again Polyphony has made a lot of decisions in the past I don't quite understand.

I think it would be very strange for PD not to put this in the final game.

However, like the Interceptor said, PD have done a few things of late that seem to make no sense, so there's a good chance that this will not appear in GT4, as it would be far too much use to so many of us who use MPH on a daily basis :(

Cheers, Jamie

I don't understand why they will not put it into the final game since they have already done it into a bloody demo.

;)

I hope they do allow this.
although is helped my maths. I just remeber this:

40km=25Mph
80km=50mph
160km=100mph
240km=150mph
320km=200mph

Yeah you could be right, I cant understand why the hell they just dont put a option in there! like others have said if its in a bloody demo!

So from what people have said regarding the JP version having no option its looking like its going to be the same as before, stuck with bloody KMH :indiff:

heres the pic from my link.

That's also a mocked up screen shot as virtually the same image appears in my Chinese manual. The map and position of the fuel warning light are wrong.

After 4 GT games, I've got used to estimating my speed :indiff:

So your pic is from the demo? Yeah, they had the same options for the Japanese demo. We could even choose the language in the demo version! Ain't happenin' in the full JP GT4 game, but that's the way these things are.

The picture IS from the Japanese demo.

I have a feeling that if it was in the demo, it will be in the PAL and NTSC versions. The only reason it isn't in the the NTSC/J version is because all of Asia uses km/h, so there would be no point. However, in Europe and North America, you have different countries using different units of measure, so it should be in.

You're absolutely right! But like I said, PD has done so many strange things in the past that I wouldn't be suprised not to see it in the PAL version of GT4.

Look at what you quoted! I clearly stated that the image was from the first preview demo.

I am well aware of the options in the full game…after all; I have had GT4 since Dec 30 2004...
