I always wondered why so many of these were used by driving schools, when the speedo is impossible to see from the passenger seat...

I've never even thought of that! It took me a while to get used to looking to the left for the speed and revs, especially as the revs are on a digital 'scale' as opposed to a needle on a dial. The engine warning lights etc. are also placed in the 'pod' but at the front which really freaked my eyes out at first :lol:

I definitely want some new wheels on mine eventually. Not sure what will match yellow though. I also think that roof racks really suit them!
 
I had an '07, never had anything that turned so well. Hardly any three point turns with that thing.

They turn on a penny, it's ridiculous at times. Mine is still running perfectly too and the only problem is that the car will no longer lock from the remote but will still unlock. A bit odd but I can live with it.

As for modding it, I'll just pop this photo here and be gone:

The key fob lock/unlock problem is a generic Yaris fault as with CELs (MAFs).. My guy at the dealer quoted me ÂŁ100 for the key fob internals, I don't know if that's still the price or if they are comparable to your prices, but it won't blow a hole in your wallet.. :)

Scion xB coilovers are the same as the Yaris ones.. Just throwing that out there..

The Yaris has gone! It's made way for something a bit quicker; a 2007 Mazda RX8 'Kuro' - Limited edition #100 of 500.
It's the 231hp model with Black Mica paint, Stone leather interior, Bose 6CD 9 speaker stereo, HID headlights and limited edition darkened head and tail light surrounds.

So far so fun, it handles brilliantly and although it's an expensive car to run, it's worth it!
 
That's sweet! Do you know of that's just a UK release or did the US get them too? Also how many miles?(if you don't mind me asking of course)

It's done 26,000 miles but it has a full service history, mostly from Mazda but had ÂŁ1,000 spent on it a couple of months ago at a rotary specialist. The Kuro was a UK only model:

In 2007 Mazda released a UK-only limited edition known as the Kuro (Japanese for Black). While the drivetrain remains the same as standard models, it did receive a revised interior as well as minor changes to its head and tail lights. It was only available with a light grey leather interior and Sparkling Black Mica exterior paint. The car was limited to 500, with a scuff plate denoting the serial number out of 500.

Although they made 500 there were only 417 still registered in the country last time I checked.
 
Oh, for a bit of fun, change your speedo from mph to km/h. Makes you feel like a mad eejit. đź‘Ť
 
:lol: I used to do that on my Yaris, I haven't tried it in this car yet and I don't plan to until I'm used to the increase in power. It's so damn easy to break the speed limit in this thing because most of our roads are 30 and 50 zones!

I think if I'd have bought the BMW I'd have ended up regretting not having as much power to play with. For a weekend toy to buzz about it the BMW wasn't quite exciting enough. Plus it doesn't sound like a plane taking off from 4-9k RPM. :lol:
 
Interest choice which I respect very much. RWD and a perfect amount of power, you know which car I would've preferred but a very nice car nonetheless.

Like I've had with my E30, your first RWD will provide you with endless amounts of fun and may unleash the maniac inside you.

Given the state of the roads on the island the DSC and TCS are staying firmly on for a little while yet, especially in the wet. Although the rear tyres are SportContact 3's and they seem to behave themselves really well in all conditions, I've not had the TCS light on very much at all yet.

EDIT: I'm back in the Midlands this weekend so keep an eye out for me if you're in the Coleshill or Nuneaton area. :p

You lucky git, I've yet to visit the 'Ring but it's top of my list of things to do in my lifetime. Have fun!

I used Bridgstone RE040 and, in the dry, I only saw the TCS light on twice.
 
I've heard good things about RE040s and have been advised to steer clear of RE050s. That said, the only times I've had the TCS kick in so far have been on loose surfaces so I've no complaints with my current set up, even though the fronts are fairly cheap tyres.
 
Booked in to have a compression test done next week, wish me luck! ;)

I also found out today that the previous owner had the entire underneath of the car stripped of any dirt and rust, cleaned and then sealed fairly recently. đź‘Ť

Actual cranking speed: 230RPM (Rotor 1) /232rpm (Rotor 2)
Rotor 1 - 8.2,8.3,8.4
Rotor 2 - 8.4,8.2,8.0

Corrected to 250RPM
Rotor 1 - 8.6,8.8,8.8
Rotor 2 - 8.7,8.5,8.3

HOT
Actual cranking speed: 275RPM (Rotor 1) / 276RPM (Rotor 2)
Rotor 1 - 8.5,8.3,8.5
Rotor 2 - 8.4,8.6,8.5

Corrected to 250RPM
Rotor 1 - 8.1,7.8,8.0
Rotor 2 - 7.9,8.1,8.0

Anything above 6 is considered 'good' and Mazda's ideal level is 8.5. :D I'm well chuffed considering I didn't get one done before I bought the car! I've been pushing the car more and more lately and I've discovered that my front tyres are pretty awful, so I'm experiencing lots of understeer. I think I'll get a new set once the winter tyres come off next year. đź‘Ť
 
That's really encouraging, nothing like the relief of knowing you didn't pick up a lemon!
