Ok, well I have been thinking this over and I am set on getting a first Generation MR2.

Now looking into engine swaps, I wanted something that was not going to offset the balance of the car, but be able to give it the grunt it needs.

Now, if I am correct, the First Generation 4AGE has 118hp and the second generation has around 148hp.

You also have the 16 valve job and a 2- valve job. From my research the engine to get is the second generation, but I would like to know who has experience with these engines and what is your outlook on them. . . : ) thanks guys

The second gen is a little heavier to start off with. The weight dist. on the 2nd gen is just as nice as the first gen. There is just something about a first gen that attracts me over the second gen. You either like the first gen. or dislike it. I fall into the catergory of liking it. Plus, people see a AW11 MR2 and they will associate it with a wimpy 143hp at the wheels with a supercharger. . . It is an easy car to actually be displayed as a sleeper too : )

I like the MK1 Deuce, but I also hate it. Not that my opinon ever swayed someone from buying a car.

Good luck with whatever you buy man.

why not swap in a 3s-gte? if your going to swap in a 4ag i say get the 4agze. that is what i will be putting in my soon to be corolla gt-s hatch.

I've got a MK1 MR2, although the engine on that just exploded with only 135k miles on it. They're fun, when they don't explode. I might be misreading your post a bit, but you don't swap a 4AGE into an MR2, that's the stock engine, around 112hp in U.S. trim. The supercharged MK1s put out around 150hp.

The second gen ones are heavier cars, and from what I've read they don't have the same go kart feel as the first gens. They should still be good cars, although it sounds like you want a MK1.

They don't use a 4AGE though, the base motor is, I believe, the Camry engine. The turbo ones use... whatever the turbo engine is. I don't believe either of the engines will simply drop into a MK1, although I could be wrong on that.

the generation of the ening I was refering to was the engine generation not the car generation. The second one is the supercharged version which is what I am looking at.

Oh. I'm not sure what you mean by second generation though, the supercharged one is just a different version of the engine. It didn't replace the naturally aspirated engine, it was an optional engine. There are other versions of the 4AGE, there's even a 200something horsepower version that's used in the Toyota Atlantic cars.

I'd go over to mr2oc.com, they've got plenty of information on different engine swaps. The supercharged motor should be pretty easy to do, as far as engine swaps go.

...although it would probably be best to just buy a supercharged car. They're a little tough to find, but if you look for a while you should be able to get one.
