the mclaren have been so unreliable so: i think schumi will have a better car than alonso and kimi. i give him one more year after 2006 and one more championship :)

Ferrari has never liked untested drivers. If you go back throughout the history of the Prancing Horse, you'll see that very very rarely has the Scuderia ever entered a rookie.

That being said, Kimi is a proven commodity, but also restless and anxious to sign somewhere that he can win. He's - in my eyes - a superior driver to Alonso, but unnerved by team politics and tactics. Michael Schumacher is not the first "tactician driver" to take a championship for Ferrari.

Raw skill was never enough in the eyes of Commendatore, and Montezemolo was tutored by Commendatore.

So, a tactician, with gobs of talent, a humble attitude (rule #1 at the Scuderia: Nothing is More Important than The Scuderia, especially not a driver), and who excels even when circumstances are against him.

Heck, I'd nominate Graham Rahal if I thought he'd get consideration.

If Michael wins the championship this year, I think that yes, it is possible, he could retire at the end of the 2006 season! But I really don't think so some how, because he is still really enjoying his racing! Even though his steed hasn't been at its best, like in previous years, but it is showing signs of improvement, which I am really happy about! So I am thinking, if he doesn't retire at the end of this season and next season, I do see him retiring at the end of the 2008 season! He will be a 10 Times World Champion by then and how cool would that be :D

I agree he would retire if he won the championship this year. However he doesn't have much of a shot at a championship if Alonso keeps up a podium even if Schumi wins for the rest of the season which is like 6-7 races left. It would be close but I think Ferrari would win constructors before Schumi wins the title this year. Alonso seems on pace for his championship. But all in all 7-8-9 championships would be pretty crazy.

Kimi reminds me SO MUCH of Hakkinen not only because of same nationality but his style. I wish Hakkinen and Schumi would been team mates. As far as I can remember, weren't Hakkinen and Schumacher team mates in the early 90's?
