I guys. I bought SSR X for the 1/4 mile and have been messing since.

I want to start racing and meeting online now.

I run with all aids off, but should I use automatic or manual.

I run approx 10.15 in auto with an 09 GTR and 1 tenth slower in manual. (probably really slow in comparison to you guy)

So...
1. Which is faster, mt or at?
2. Which should I be using?

Knock a second off those 1/4 mile times.

9.162 and 9.230 Is correct now I have looked.

Well if your running faster in auto use that.. But some cars are a much better option to use as a manual.. Mainly because of the peak power or 2nd gear (and 3rd) launch 👍

1- a general rule of thumb for common drag cars on the 1/4, AWD and low HP RWD are first gear launchers so auto is normally better as it shifts on redline.

For high HP RWD or any FWD manual is better as you can choose exactly when to shift and can launch with any gear which can be used to stay in different power bands and alleviate spin.

2- My suggestion is when starting out until you understand how to manipulate gear changes to your advantage auto is generally a better option.

Also I still use auto in my GTR as my lower gears are too short for me to shift cleanly every time.

^What he said. Once you have spent time using mt and learn the optimal shift points of your cars it can shave a bit off your times and it isn't difficult to get consistency. But in the end its a matter of personal preference.

Viper decided to add 500 words explaining what I said :P

I reccomend always running auto in gtr's. I've noticed that some vehicles benefit from using mt running alittle into redline while others you shift and before redline. Alot of trial and error is required to find whats best for you. And i would take my advice on auto gtr's as i current hold first place at gt5dragracing.com for fastest 1/4 time of 9.031 with 09 gtr. Althought im sure ptk or other top tuner will beat it soon, but i will enjoy my moment on top.
