I was watching Fiftgear's third episode of this season, and was really into their 24hrs at silvers.

Got me thinking that it could be cool to play that kind of race. But the key being the multiple classes, like in real life, really. That makes for some very interesting paces as there are fast and slower cars, all racing for their own class's first position.

adding Multiplayer to the mix, and this gets to be an awesome experience. Of course, one thing that would make this kind of experience very worthwhile would be if the PS3 has a system like the XboxLive! system, where you can actually talk to fellow drivers of your team when in race, and all other pitcrews when you're not racing.

Form a team of 3-4 drivers per team, make 6-8 teams(class) and go on racing for a 24hrs race, or a 12hrs race or whatever, with pitstops and stuff.

If there is car damage and such, it makes for an awesome racing experience. You almost want to bring in a car tire, and burn it next to you as you drive for a good smell ambiance ;)

Nice idea, sorta like in real life....doi :dopey:
It would be nice to implement something like that into the next GT. And maybe an overall points system to make everything competitive for all the classes.

It would be really easy to implement with a good online system, if PS3 decides to go that way.

With the 360, it'll be so easy to find anyone interested directly through LIVE!. I just hope Sony realise how much potential there is for an online community system on the PS3...

It all comes down to the number of cars GT5 will support on a track at once. It would have to be a lot more than 20-30 for this feature. I really don't know if that's possible with real time damage, but then again I might be underestimating PS3 and PD's capabilities. But if it's possible, it would make for the best racing experience ever if it's done right.
While racing a faster car, you would be doing a lot of overtaking manoeuvres, which really makes a race more involving and interesting. On the other hand, while racing a slower car, you would have to watch your mirrors, making sure you don't block any faster class car.

Online this would be a killer feature, but offline... Would require some decent AI.

that's most probably impossible with AI, especially with the 'good' AI everyone's starving for. way too much processing power for 50+ cars.

But having this option in a Multiplayer event would be awesome, no processing power needed for extra AIs, only for renderings and physics.

It should be possible if PS3 lives up to its expectations. That's a huge if , but who knows.
