Driven by a father and son apparently. Both died. RIP. :(

I have a question - how would you get out of a car like this if it flips over and stays on its back, considering that the doors on a Murcielago open vertically? Through the windsheild?

It's impossible to know for sure. It caught fire after the impact. If they were trapped, that's a horrible way to go. :(

I can see vertical doors disappearing off production cars in the near future.

I don't. They're sports cars, and therefore lack practicality to begin with. They're a styling cue that tells you its a Lamborghini, and I believe its a selling point for the company that they won't be willing to give up.

Nasty looking crash though, and sorry to hear people had to lose their life during it.

Hopefully we'll see them disappearing off modified Civics/Supras/3-series BM's etc etc first.

Well unless lambo does something to ensure people can get out their cars after landing on the roof they might have to get rid of them to avoid lawsuits.

Maybe a button to self destruct windows when cars sensors notice its upside down.

ALOT of cars wouldn't be able to open their doors if they rolled onto their roof. The roof frame would bend and probably trap the door shut.

Unless it had 5 NCAP stars.

I would think it would be easy to make a safety latch that allowed the door to come off completely.

that's just terrible. just terrible.

I hate to see anyone die because of their own ignorance of their local and state traffic laws. Kids, don't speed, even if you have a $100,000+ supercar.

How do you know they were speeding?

Just because it had a kid involved doesn't mean they were speeding or the kid couldn't drive. If you didn't know, it's easy to loose control of any car at a given speed.

Scissor doors don't tell you it's a Lamborghini, it's just something they adopted with the Countach. Bugatti did the same with the EB110.

BTW Poverty, the sueing of Lamborghini has no effect because Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, and others would all have to be sued due to their cars having doors that open upwards.
And if you didn't notice, Mercedes' gullwing doors were actually a lot more dangerous than a scissor door.

I dunno, man, cuz last time I flipped my 45-inch tall car at 45mph...
Proves nothing. Any car can loose control.

For all we know, this car could have hit something in the road or a curb and fishtailed to it flipped.

There's not enough detail in the story.

Make sure you are informed before you make stupid comments like that, its easy to see you didn't read the article carefully. And its pretty damn hard to flip a sports car like that at low speeds.

And usually cars don't flip when they hit a curb, and a sports car doesnt flip very easily when it fishtails, usually they just slide, and for such a short wide car, that gives it a very small chance of flipping.

Eh, my apologies then.

Apparently, my head hasn't been in right place lately.:indiff: :dunce:
