Legendary F1 commentator, Murray Walker, will commentate on this weekend's Grand Prix at the Nurburgring for BBC Radio 5 Live (909 MW). Walker, who retired as the principal commentator on British TV a few years ago, will make a one-off return. So get those radios on, and revel in the glory of muting James Allen for a couple of hours. Looking forward to it already :o)

I would love to see Murray along with Varsha, Hobbes, and Matchet in the US.

They are lolz.

I shall be listening to the master, and wearing my 'Stop the *James Allen*' t-shirt (thank you sniffPetrol.)

That is truly great news, Looks like I am going to break out the old Radio and hope it still works.

He's commentated a few times during the Melbourne GP when we have our own commentators instead of ITV. He sure does make it interesting.

Yeah, not to mention the Clipsal 500 too. So much for a "one-off return". Still, it's always great to listen to his commentating, too bad we wont get it.

Thats awesome!
My voice of F1 will be back, ill be sure to listen to the radio with the Tv down.
I met 'Muzza' at Silverstone in 2000 Friday test. My Uncle and i stood talking for a good 10 mins, Nice bloke.
Anyone read any of his books?

Commentating on the qualifying then? Funny...doesn't sound much like Murray Walker to me, sounds a lot like the usual bloke doing the golf!

Well, Murray still has it 👍 I was a bit disappointed at Radio 5's coverage too, however - constantly going to the golf, then the cricket, then the news, then a bit more of the race, then the golf again, then the travel and weather, then 'Another wicket has gone!' (WHO CARES!?) and then a bit more of the race...

To be fair to Murray, he handled the disruptions in qualifying, in the race, and in the piecemeal coverage from Radio Five with good humour and patience (unlike me :grumpy: ).. Although he was struggling with a few names and made a fair few mistakes, he's still a better sports commentator (at the age of 83!) than I will ever be. Only a shame I missed him signing off at the end because of my cretin of a landlord who came round in the middle of the final lap to 'fix' a door in the house (his definition of 'fix' however is 'have a quick look at it and then go away, possibly to return in three weeks time with some superglue and some sandpaper'... )

Well done Murray, great job, shame about the production!
