Dang I only know 3.....Cobain, Grohl, Noveselic

ahh ok i havent heard them as CCR...my bad :)

I think the other member your looking for is Pat Smear.

SO is the correct answer: Cobain, Grohl, Novoselic, Smear.

Novoselic and Smear were not original members, but joined at a later date.

can you name the band that created the 1984 mini movie that starred this character?

As a follow up question, Can you name the mini movie?

At an absolute guess, I'd have to say that's Mr. Roboto from Queen's version of Metropolis.

No, not Queen, Styx.

Neon_Duke:

yes, that is the character...yes, that is the band (Styx) But not the movie...

But close enough to win the question

AO

OK, I was wasting time looking for a good image of a different mini-movie character, but it was just too obscure to be found. So here goes, Seventies fans:

Lynrd Skynrd's southern-rock anthem Sweet Home Alabama was written in direct reply to criticism found in another rock song. Name the artist and song.

Southern man by Neil Young.
"I guess Neil Young should remember
a southern man don't need him around anyhow..."

My question...

Summarize the Bruce Springsteen song "Johnny 99." That is, tell me what it's about. I'll even allow you to read the lyrics, if you can find them on the Web.

(Side note: Ha, ha, Klos! I finally got to ask a question about Springsteen! This won't be the last, either! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!)

Whoever answers this question is the second person to be added to my sucky members list.

You'll be right behind Mr. Springsteen's biggest fan up here.

"Johnny 99" is about a loser from New Jersey who is never going to be anything and never do anything but complain about it.
:smilewink
Close enough?

I do, in fact like Nebraska, but that song is not on it. Except for the "I'm the new Bob Dylan so my lyrics don't need to make sense" years, that's what most of Spruce's songs are about. So I took a lucky guess...
:smilewink
But somebody who actually knows may want to answer this question, so we can move on.

What are you talking about?? "Johnny 99" is the fourth track on 'Nebraska.'

Oooops. My mistake - in my defense, I don't own the album; I've only heard it. Now I think I will slink quietly away and let someone else answer...

Since this seem to have faltered a bit, I'll revive it...

Can anyone tell me the real name of the lead singer of the "Chris Gaines" band?

AO

Ummm, isn't that Garth Brooks' wierd alter-ego?

That was a very odd phase. I never did figure out how or why his record company ever let him get away with it.

OK, here's the next question:

On the cover of John Mayall's The Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton album, what is Clapton doing?

And Gil, you have to give somebody else a chance to answer this, because I know you know.

OK, I know Der Alta knows the answer, but he cheated and looked it up on Google.
:smilewink
Gil, enough time's passed to give everybody else a decent shot, so if you do know the answer, sing it out, man. I want specifics!

I've only seen pix of this album. I don't have it. But if my memory serves...EC is looking at something off to one side (The rest of the Bluesbreakers are looking the other way) while standing there with that uuugly Gibson SG. Looks very much like he'd rather be playing that guitar than being photographed holding it.

For all you guitar players:
Clapton's favorite Strat is called "Blackie". What is unique about it?
Hint: SRV had a similar "unique" guitar as his "number one". AND it ISN"T the backward (left-handed) Whammy bar.

*Bzzzzt*, sorry, wrong answer. AO, care to fill him in?

PS - Gil: as an EC fan, this is definitely one you should pick up. Mayall always kept great musicians around him and he's very true to the blues.

PPS - Gil: I don't know what's special about Blackie, but SRV's #1 is fitted with bass frets instead of 6-string pieces. I know it is not like a lot of the speed guitarists who put a left-handed neck on a right-handed body to make the higher strings longer and easier to bend.

Very close. Blackie is also a "Frankenstein" Guitar. It was made up from the best parts of about 5 "bargain bin" Strats: body from one, neck from another, pick-ups from yet another.

I guess I will have to hit Best Buy to pick up the album.

Another guitar question: What is cool/strange about Susan Tedeschi's guitar? (She is the wife of Derek Trucks, a young slide player heavily influenced by The Allman Bros.)She is a very talented blues singer and guitar player.

No clue. I've heard the name but never the music. I'll have to see if I can find a picture of it.

The Album cover lies.
It's called "Just won't Burn" and it is one of the Hottest Blues albums that I own.
